department, vocal music department, and instrumental music department. Minor improvements such as the addition of tennis courts, the construction of the track, and the development of landscaping continued until the maior efforts were directed to the building of the auditorium, completed for use in January of this year, the greenhouse, available for the biology department in September of 1961, and the erection of the stadium, which was initiated this P557 fall- The most important features of Rincon's ia -by construction are now visible facilities, A only the addition of al locker room under the stadium and a swimming pool remain as dreams of the future. You have seen our school in at least one part of its growing phase, and can now appreciate the loveliest campus and most versatile buildings in Tucson. EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES WERE ADVANCED.. .Undoubtedly the largest amount of work was poured into the area that would reap the greatest benefits, that was the development of the educational facilities in every department. Just to name a few of the outstanding tasks which lay before each department before school opened, there was an entire science department to stock with lab materials, research publications, and live specimens to be studied, The English department had to acquire teaching aids such as records, movies, and research material for student use. The shops each had to be equipped with tools and materials to make possible the teaching of graphic arts, wood working, and welding. The music departments had to purchase uniforms and Choir rgbegl music and instruments. And in the conselors' offices, plans for future education of Rincon graduates were already in the making. What have the early efforts of Rincon's dedicated SX faculty and administration FKA- produced? Results are quite evident when we find nearly every department represented nationally V S-. I , l through its high scholastic accomplishment. 'V l if l' - S, ' SCHOLARSHIP BREEDS SPIRIT.. .Up to this point, nothing has been said in words which explains the spirit of Rincon students. Actually, by what is said in the preceding paragraphs our spirit is evidenced. With an attractive campus and modern facilities, the morale of the student body is lifted by the brightness of it all. But underlying the ' ' scholarly spirit, is the school spirit which has prompted the design of an emblem, a school crest, an alma mater, and several school fight songs. You who have entered Rincon in any one of the past four years have witnessed the growth of more X traditions, and have carried out, perhaps subconsciously, each N . . it established idea. SQ? So what l can be said in conclusion? This history section isn't marking the end of a long span of years. It has only brought up to date, the earliest fragment of the history which is still to come. Many of you Will be leaCllf Q the student body of 1965 - continue writing constructive pages in the history of Rincon High School. 7
