Coming from behind in the final seconds of play, Rincon won their next game over Pueblo 61-53. A close game followed as Rincon was set back 44-40 by Yuma. The second meeting between the Rang- ers and Trojans proved most exciting. Again overpowering their eastside rival, Rincon was successful in downing the Trojans 52-49. Center Jerry Cicotte hustles after the ball as a Scottsdale Beaver tries to tie it up. jerry Cieotte comes down with a rebound. 168 Guard Bob Duncan battles against impossible odds to get loose ball. The next game found R.H.S. losing to a revengeful team of 'gmighty midgetsv from Ainpbi. Snapping out of their two-game losing streak, Rincon, led by Dennis Albrightls 23 points, came back to set down Scottsdale 56-50. The following weekend, Pr.H.S. met the powerful Bad- gers. By warding off a Ranger scoring threat, the Bad- gers were able to win 63-54. After falling to T.H.S., Rincon bounced back to win their next two games against Nogales and Salpointe. The following morning found R.H.S. gliding past Mesa 63-38. In the third game, Rincon was matched up against the defending state champs from Phoenix Union B l ' . y osing the game 73- 40, Rincon then moved into the consola- tion bracket. There they m t , e and lost by a mere point to St. Mary's of Phoenix The 54-53 loss la p ced Rincon fourth in the Arizona State Tourney. The victory in the all-important clash be tween Rincon and Catalina meant the top spot in the city standings for the Rangers. Also, it put the Rangers into a first place tie with C.H.S. in the Division 4-AA standings.
