oreign Language Cinglish Rim High offered both German and Spanish. The students learned about the culture as well as the Spanish language. Dedicated students may go as far as they ' d like in learning Spanish. Mr. Martinez taught students to speak fluently and to write correct Spanish up to 5th year. Mr. Fenn and Mrs. Garcia help students get an educated start into the language. Rim High is thankful for having former exchange student, Jarle Eldevik in its staff. The Ger- man language has a different dialect and therefore students must practice speaking the language quite a bit to get used to it. Learning a foreign language took dedica- tion from the student, because indeed, it was foreign to the students. Dan Martinez — Dept. Our Mathematic Department had more students enrolled than ever before. Math can be easy-come to some, while others struggle through it. The teachers try to help Math not he such a dreaded class. The classes ranged from general math to calculus. These classes and the many in between had hard working students enroll- ed in them. They are much deserving of the new center which is being planned and built. For college bound students, Mathematics was very important. The teachers realize the importance and tried to help them through problems to prepare for future college tests and classes. Bob Schweighardt Bill Lakatos Eddie Exiine There is a great deal of math in the field of science. This can also be a dreaded subject for some. There were those who found it enlightening; the doctors, scientists and researchers of tomorrow, the Asimovs and the Einsteins. For most, it lends but a multitude of invaluable information, and was the most common cause of ulcers among the Rim High student body. While teachers toil over the test in Biology, Chem. and Physics, students learned about the human machine, it s chemically activated miracles, the chemical make up of the world, and why a ball rolls down hills. Mike Patterson Bill Dickson Steve Shelton — Dept. Chair One has to write and speak well if they want to be successful in any career. This department was the nucleus to all the other areas of study. A student would achieve more and understand other sub- jects better if he could read the textbook well and express himself on paper. The English teachers helped students in every way they could to accomplish this. The reading and writing center was greatly im- proved.
