„eE E nchanted JLivening In the midst of mighty mountains, and towering trees, and surrounded by the crystal waters of Lake Arrowhead the set- ting for the Junior-Senior Prom was created. From there the setting grew dramatically. The stars shone bright and the air was crisp and filled with the excite- ment of prom. The new Arrowhead Hilton, with its chandeliers, soft lights and charm enriched the elegance of the evening. Juniors and seniors alike discarded the Levi ' s, sweatshirts, and loafers, to fall into a night of fantasy. Elegantly dressed in the formal attire of long, flowing dresses and stately tuxedoes, the students enjoyed a formal dinner and were then enchanted by the music, dancing and elegant atmosphere. Very Special Each year seems to claim a few of our favorite people, famous or friends, and though the loss of someone is simply : nature making room for the new members of our world and the high school graduates are looking for a position to hold, death is a difficult subject to understand or accept. Our senior class was fortunate to have all its members in good health for our final ceremony, but there are a few people we ' ll remember as very special though we never knew them personally. Among these are actor, Henry Fonda; Princess Grace; and singer, Karen Carpenter. All contributed happiness to a lot of people and their presence will be missed. So Long After eleven years of entertaining us, M.A.S.H said farewell. Each episode was written and acted with humor, yet had a iserious message to pass on. The cast was so likeable, we felt as if we knew them: B.J., Hawkeye, Hot Lips, Col. Potter, Kl- inger, Charles, Father Mulcahy; and from the early cast: Radar, Henry, Trapper Nurse Baker, and Frank. They all had such [distinctive and realistic personalities. I Thank you M.A.S.H. for allowing us to jgrow up with your subtle teachings and lessons, your comedy and cast. Monday nights will never be as fun without the 4077. In Answer to Prayers . . . Last year Edward Karady, then a freshman, was involved in a near fatal acci- dent in a fourby-four which left him unable to walk or talk. His family was told he would never regain these abilities but with the prayers and thoughts of many students, families, and community members, Edward is now walking with aid and talking. Keep it up Edward, you ' re in our thoughts. My Generation Recognize these places? How long will they remain our hangouts? How long before we go our separate ways? Nancy ' s Attitude Adjustment Center provid- ed us with a weekend retreat where we could kick back and forget everything. Thanks Nancy! Del Taco was our refueling station after our wins and losses at every sporting event. It was the first place we thought of when we were attacked by the munchies. Hey, don ' t forget I ' ll meet ya at Nancy ' s next year when everyone ' s home for Christmas. SICK 1 cannot go to school today, said little Peggy Ann McKay. I have the measles and the mumps, A gash, a rash, and purple bumps. My mouth is wet, my throat is dry, I ' m going blind in my right eye. My tonsils are as big as rocks, I ' ve counted sixteen chicken pox And there ' s one more that ' s seventeen. And don ' t you think my face looks green My leg is cut, my eyes are blue — It might be instamatic flu. I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke, I ' m sure that my left leg is broke — My hips hurts when I move my chin, My belly button ' s caving in, My back is wrenched, my ankle ' s sprained. My ' pendix pains each time it rains. My nose is cold, my toes are numb, I have a sliver in my thumb. My neck is stiff, my spine is weak, I hardly whisper when I speak. My tonge is filling up my month, I think my hair is falling out. My elbow ' s bent, my spine ain ' t straight, My temperature is one-o-eight. My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear. There is a hole inside my ear. I have a hangnail, and my heart is — what? What ' s that? What ' s that you say? You said today is . . . Saturday? G ' bye, I ' m going out to play! — Shel Silverstein This poem, taken from Shel Silverstein ' s book Where the Sidewalk Ends, is dedicated to all of those students who have experienced an attack of Spring Fever, with special application to my fellow classmates whose illness is compounded by acute Senioritis. — Kathleen Shaw Editor ' s Report — 2 9
