Sci- 1 ech JVlaranatha Sci-Tech, sponsored by Mr. Bob Schweighardt, has become a popular club for those people interested in such topics as politics, religion, science and world pro- blems. Mr. Schweighardt encouraged debate, discussion, and the expression of personal opinion which the members of the club respect and enjoy. Sci-Tech members include: Pat Heights, Bill Ebaugh. Scott McColrey, Mr. Schweighardt, Ron Gregg. Kayoko Maeda, Kelly Timpone. ' MsmsmmrnrnKti ' M- The Maranatha Club was a club designed to promote the indwellin of the Lord Jesus in the hearts of the students and faculty of Rim High. They upheld the ideals of love and friendship by following the B.asic Instruction B.ooklet for L.ife (the bible). This club would like to leave you with one last message for the year; God ain ' t dead, He ain ' t even sick!!! CA. A.F.S V.I.C.A. stands for the Vocational In- dustrial Clubs of America, a nation wide club that teaches leadership skills along with vocational skills. The club competed in regional competi- tions on March 26 in Long Beach, and in a three day state competition in Sacramento on April 22, 23, 24. The club officers were Dave Rasmussen President, Teri Wilson vice President, Becky Boone secretary, and Lisa Vanni treasurer, reporter Denise Adrian, and parliamentarian Loreen Nelson. The ad- visors were Torri Haney, and George Stehmeier. The club was open to anybody participating in any of the vocational classes offered on campus. V.I.C.A. members include: Mike Rosedale, Mike Scor- ziell, Joe Aguirre, Mike Dawe, Patti Edwards, Todd Velie, Scott Bailey, Margaret Harris, Robin Ocepek. The American Field Service (A.F.S.), under the direction of sponsors Lee and Ann Vandenburg, Jim and Robin Minor and of- ficers Debbie Nunn President, Carter Bemis vice president, Colleen Miranda secretary and Scott Rosenow treasurer, the club had a fantastic year. The 1982 Homecoming float A Dream Come True was a great success and en- couraged club spirit. Among their ac- tivities the club sponsored a banana split bash accompanied by the movie Star Wars. Unity of the club was shown at the Homecoming Dance when the members had a pot-luck and attended the dance together as a club. The annual share drive to raise money for exchange students was very successful. The International Dinner sponsored by the adult chapter of A.S.F. was exceptional due to the variety of cultures represented. jbpanish l .l .Iv, The Spanish Club was more involved than ever. With the help of officers Jenn y Amen president, Ken Ellithorpe vice president, Scott Heitz secretary, and Chris Miranda treasurer, the Spanish club was able to keep up traditions set long ago. The annual pizza party was very suc- cessful, as was the Cinco de Mayo trip to Olvera Street. Valentine grams were sold and promoted spirit within the club as well as the school. A special thanks went to club sponsors Mr. Martinez and Mrs. Garcia for their ef- forts and support. This spirit club started when a bunch of crazy people formed a club in honor of their favorite comedian, Steve Martin. In the past, the club has gone to participate in the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
