There are very few of us that have not gone through the J.V. Process. The pro- cess of learning patience, dedication, and how much a smile can really mean to others. J.V. teams are the back bone to all Varsity teams. You learn from the Varsity plyers mistakes; you learn patience. Hours, days, and months of work-outs that are just as strenuous as the Varsity team. You do all they do, and sometimes more, but in the end, you seem to come up short. How come I am not receiving the medals, praises, and glory? is a question asked too often by J.V. players. Not oftn enough are they shown the gratitude they deserve for making us smile when we just lost 0-6, or going to 29 Palms just to melt on the sidelines and give some support, and for taking their life in their hands at Banning and Elsinore. Not often enough do we give them that much deserved smile, pat on the back, or word of encouragement. It takes a strong person to survive the much dreaded J.V. Process. To this year ' s J.V. tennis team, we say thank you for all the pats on the back, words of encouragement, and friendly smiles. The Varsity team could not have done it without you. To you, we give all the pats on the back, words of encourage- ment, and friendly smiles that you will need in your matches to come! 108 — Girls Tennis

un The J.V. crosscountry team of 82-83 prov- ed that they were more than ready for the challenge of grueling practices. Being a J.V. team member is tough enough without the hours of running, shin splints, etc. that go along with being a cross coun- try runner. The were faced with a severe challenge, but never cowered from it. The Yucaipa In- vitational was the pay-off for all of their long strenuous hours of work. Taking first in the Yucaipa Invitational gave them all the confidence that was needed. They soon went on to have an outstanding season. Coach Paul Moore feels very privileged to have such a talented group of runners and looks forward to working with them in seasons to come. Dwayne Halterman is so close to the Borderline.
