Ta ake it to the Xop To Once again, the J.V. Volleyball team per- formed with excellence and style as they became CoChamps in the Sunkist League. According to J.V. coach Sue Strain, even though the girls tied for the first place posi- tion. Rim was the best in league. In pre-season games, the J.V. ' s showed their talent with not one but two victories over Rim ' s rival. Big Bear. The annual J.V. Tournament held at Chaffey College prov- ed to be another mark in the team ' s winn- ing streak. As in the years before, Rim played tough and intense volleyball. The competition among the twenty schools was stiff and Rim proudly brought home the Fourth place title. In the coming years, the J.V. ' s will have a tough act to follow, but with the tealent and determination the girls displayed this year, they are sure to remain a winning team. IVe ve O In 1982 the J.V. FOOTBALL TEAM had their best season since 1973. The outstan- ding team effort made their 7-3 record possible. In preseason play they had a record of 3-2. One of their most exciting games was against Aquinas with Rim winning in the last four seconds of the game, with a field goal by Chris Lewis. Their league play was exceptional coming in second place to Perris. The coaches, Tim Steele, and Dick Martin are looking forward to the years to come. We hope they will work as hard for success in the upcoming years. ' f -- fmmms vM 1 1 -■- W»i -n v«-» ». ».... i ' ' ' ,fcfMit!!!lU Uj: .. -.» -..-!»• Top right: Chris Lewis is Steppin ' Out . e Are the C hampions . . . The challenge was there again, to be at- tempted and gained. It was done last year; could it be done again? With the determination and talent of the Varsity volleyball team that question was answered in a positive way. Yes, for the se- cond time in a row they brought home the State Championship, a feat never ac- complished before in all of California. It was an exciting season not only for the team but for the entire school. The support from parents, community, teachers, and students was tremendous. The team walked away with a 21-0 record which included four challenging games with 4-A schools Irvine, Corona Del Mar, Laguna, and Westminster. They placed se- cond in two tournaments and first in another. The team consisted of some very talented players coupled with great coaching by Bill Dickson and Jill Whitney.
