The -I-wenlq-Five VQUP SILVEIQ J BILEE ASSEMBL Of The laiqt., Hiql. 561,001 The past arises before us as though it were yesterday. On an April day in 1913 we stood on the brink of a T shaped hole in the ground. Here was erected, in the village of Rigby, our High School Building. Today we view this dear old edifice as we did then with justifiable pride. Here today we look upon the fine old structure after twenty-five years of uninterrupted service. One-fourth of a century of life and action with the forward and upward thrust as Time Marches On.i' Past and present crowd hard upon our attention for mutual expression in honor of her service. Then comes the Flash! Why should we not call this twenty-fifth year anniversary of our fine old R. H. S. a Silver Jubilee Assembly? All who attended this school loved it the same as you and I. Reflection proves that no available auditorium is capable of accommodating such a throng as the combined attendance of a quarter of a century. Why should that matter? Ring the old street car gong that has so often stimulated the scurrying of feet for the past twenty-five years. and assemble on the campus. Then fellow-citizens of Rigby, and the Upper Snake River Valley, our state at large, and our nation, what an assembly we have. Platform space would be needed for a Board of Education of one hundred and fifty or more: for a faculty of two hundred: and seven city school superintendents. Facing the platform would be a student body of approximately six to seven thousand fine people. Oh folks, what a record has in the past, and is in the present going to be made by this splendid group. Reflection again finds their activities varied, for they are far flung in honorable and note- worthy citizenship endeavors. Many of them are home makers and parents of children-the on-com- ing host whose influence is now immeasurable. We find here men from all of agriculture's various branches-wonderful Sons of the Soil who assist in feeding the world. Together with these. we find those in transportation, forestry, and mining. that have made the Gem State famous. Near by are the business men, bankers, and real-estate workers who look after the economic needs of our lives. Engineers fchemical, electrical and civilj along with the contractors and builders, care for your structural and building needs. Lawyers, doctors. nurses, druggists, church workers, and teachers are there to care for the physical, moral, and educational needs in the land. Across the isle we see the scientist and inventor who also makes up part of this Silver Jubilee Assembly. Here are authors and publishers whose works send far-flung messages to the corners of the earth. Dotted here and there are the uniformed of Uncle Sam's Army and Navy who stand ready to defend us against invasion from without or against rebellion from within. So many and varied are the numberless other worthwhile activities and endeavors of our gigantic student body that time and space will not permit their individual numeration. Some one demands that we call forth our famed musicians to lead us in singing Here We Have Idaho. We sing it as it rings from Moscow and the pine forests to the southern border and then from the pine forests to the southern border and then from the Teton Peaks, westward, to the Columbia. When we again reflect we believe that not a single solitary tax payer, either here or Beyond would begrudge one copper cent that he may have given toward the education'of such a student body. We feel that not a single parent, home, community, or state in all our nation would not but feel a swell of pride to know that this child had been a member of this Silver Jubilee Assembly. Now to the Past, the Present. and the Future of the old Rigby High School we propose: HERE'S TO THE RIGBY HIGH SCHOOL Here's to the Rigby High School, Every brick in her dear old wall, From the bottom, basement levels, To the top of her parapet tall. Here's to the student bodies Of past, present and future too, And here's to the wonderful work You have, are now, and may in the future do. -Nuvmoo Gooo
