oi De Voi Volenline oramo Joi De Voi is a French word meaning joy of life, and signifies vivacity, service, and happiness, which every girl must successfully fill in order to become a member of the J. D. V. The J. D. V. girls try to be of service to their school by ushering at all school functions, and helping to promote school activities. Last Christmas, they presented the Student Body with two new megaphones. Six girls from the Sophomore Class are chosen to become members each year, and unless somehow disqualified, remain members throughout their other high school years. The president is always a Senior girl. The adviser is chosen by the club. The above picture shows the Joi De Voi girls and partners on February 12. 1938, at their formal banquet. The couples were announced by the butler and presented to the other guests of the evening. A lovely three course dinner was served at tables gaily adorned in red and white. Six red candles furnished the light for the dinner. Clever Valentine fortunes were placed around vases of red tulips and carnations and were read between courses. Dainty dance programs were used at the special Valentine Dance at Riverside Gardens, which followed the banquet. HIGH
