Make that block! Get out of my road! Down boy! UNIUH HIGH FUIITBALI. The Junior High football team got off to a shaky start this season but once they got started they were hard to beat. After much practice and hard work they ended the season with a 3-2-1 record. The squad had impressive wins over Eddystone, Collingdale, and Darby, a tie with St. James freshmen, and dropped close deci- sions to Conshohocken and Media. The coaches, Letrinko, Sachs, and DiCiulio, have quite a rebuilding job on hand, because of eight of this yearis starters move up to play Junior Varsity or possibly Varsity football next fall. Next year the team drops Collingdale from their schedule and adds Ardmore and Bala Cynwyd. We hope the T54 team will con- tinue the record set by this year's squad. Left to right. Bottom Row: J. The Cross Country team did not do much in the line of winning this year, hut the boys gained a great deal of experience, which will he a vital asset next fall. The record was three wins and six losses. The team placed twelfth of the l5 schools in District One. Because most of this year's squad will he returning, the pros- pects for the coming year look very encouraging. CHUSS IZUUNTHY Ridley Park runner nears finish line . ahead of J. Ahead of them was a schedule of eleven games to be played against some of the most formidable opponents in the Philadelphia Suburban area. Behind them was the loss of twenty-one seniors through graduation. Just two days before the opener with St. James end, Tom Grant. one of the few returning lettermen, was taken to the hospital with polio. This was a blow from which the team never fully recovered. The bulldogs of St. James gave a portend of things to come when they gave the Green Raiders their worst defeat in history 63-7. Lower Merion followed by admin- istering a 53-6 loss. Pottstown was next in line and took home a 2-1-7 victory. Hopes were raised when the Green Raiders laced Lansdale, 31-0, only to be dashed when it was learned the game must be forfeited. l . Rogan. While Chester and Abington continued the parade with 27-0. and 30-7 wins respectively. An unexpected early winter snowstorm forced post- ponement of the Haverford game. Then Media made the skies blacker by squeaking through with a 27-26 win. Not to be entirely denied. the Raiders then stormed back to defeat Clifton Heights 21-13 and register their final win. ln the final game of the season. a strong band of Stoners from Eddystone. beaten in their last eleven games with Township, had some measure of revenge by administering a 25-7 loss to the helpless Raiders. ln summary let it be said that the boys gave what they had. but the opponents usually had a little more. J. Milne and J. Berger clear the road for C. Barkett. Wliooiisl You dropped it.
