Directing Operations . . . .it Supervising Principal J. LAYTON MOORE The members of the Class of 1962 and I have had many interests in common these past four years. Now as you prepare for your graduation, we find ourselves once again with an identical interest. You are graduating this year; I am retiring. It took you only four years to get through. For me it required thirty-five. I imagine that your reaction about leaving the Ridley Park High School is much the same as mine. It is one of anticipation, but also one of regret. We anticipate an adjustment to a new kind of life and a different routine. That which we may accomplish in the future may not make the big headlines, yet one can never be certain. There could be a Shep- pard. or a Grissom, or a Glenn in this very class. Of one thing I am sure. Whatever the task ahead, whether it be glamorous or it be ordinary, each can and should put forth the best effort of which he is capable. This is not only the most certain, but the only road to real happiness. Principal OLIVER S. ALEXANDER A separanon such as we anticipate inevitably causes regret. The termination of happy associa- tions, the cessation of effort on common tasks, the words of encouragement and praise from our friends, the victories won, the defeats endured, all tend to weld us as a people into a powerful force. A termination of these experiences brings regret. However, as we leave may we be aware that we have a common mission. It is that we as representa- tives of our school be ever diligent to bear her standards high and declare her praise. The patterns set and the habits formed during our days and years in Ridley Park High School will to a great degree determine our future. May it be a happy and re- warding one.
