New surroundings, new studies and new ways didn't have us confused for long. By taking an active part in clubs and ath- letics we soon showed that we possessed, not only the ability to quickly adjust ourselves to new conditions, but also that we had considerable leadership ability. As our years in high school passed, most of the members of our class took advantage of the opportunities to develop this quality. Our junior year was high-lighted by the arrival of our class rings and by our Prom which was based on the theme of An Evening in Parisf' Our senior year has been filled with wonderful memories: football and basketball games, our Snoball, class parties, and our senior trip to VVashington, D. C. To climax this year we at- tended Senior chapel, Baccalaureate, and finally that night of all nights-Commencement. Many of us will be leaving to attend college, others will find employment, but wc will always look back with fond memories to our years at Ridgway High and be thankful for the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and sportsmanship that were instilled in us during the years that we were here. 14 Bonnie Sue Anderson Course: Commercial Ambition: Secretary ELKER Staff 12, MAROO- NEWS 11, 12, Band 9, 10, 11 Girls, Chorus 12. The halls shall once more ring with laughter With voices of those who take our place, The echo will linger in our memory long after Through tears of sadness we leave this place. We worked hard those twelve long years And added just a dash of play, The future we face with some fears But years ahead have shed their ray, Now as we say our last good-bye We think how years Hew past, The memories of them shall never die But in our hearts shall last and last. Although we leamed through trial and error The teachers have been our guide, To us not one was fairer Our occupations they helped us decide. We are not exactly alone, however, As we reach this big milestone, Our hopes and dreams we must never sever A brighter star for us has shone. They have shown promise of what they will do in future years by whole- heartedly supporting our sports and club ac- tivities. Sophomores were found in every club and student organization and an impressive gl. S .Wa . if o, 1 number of boys went out for football, basket- ball, track, and baseball. The six-weeks report of the sophomores demonstrate the high scho- lastic standing of the class. The sophomores are looking forward to two more years at Centennial High where they will continue to uphold the high standards of our school. Room 209 Back Row fleft to rightl: H. Lewis, W. Many of the junior high basketball boys were freshmen. The freshman girls were active as members of a loyal group of cheerleaders who supported the teams at the games. Other groups that have been active in junior high this year are the student council, chorus and band. Many of the freshmen participated in these different groups. The class play and party are always high lights for the freshman, as well as the opportunity to attend some of the senior high activities for the first time. A hopeful idea brought up last year indicated that we may be the first class to graduate from the new junior-senior high school. This has been an exciting year for all and We are hoping the coming high school years Will be as enjoyable. Back Row fleft to rightl: R. Klawulm, J. Ditch, T. Finger, I. Rydquist, G. Anderson, R. The Librarians, Club, which now has a membership of 45 members, is a very important and active group in our school. The two main purposes of this organization are to train stu- dent librarians who take care of the library dur- ing their study periods, and also to give those students who are interested in library work as a career an opportunity to get experience in this type of work. All members learn the layout of the library, how to catalog and charge-out books, and also how to repair the books. Listening to guest speakers, sitting- in on classes, and attend- ing Parent-Teachers Meet- ings are a few of ways the members of this club get an insight on their chosen profession. This club also performs a school civic duty - it appropriately decorates its prominently placed bulletin board in such an eyecatehing way that no important state or national day or week goes by without due recogni- tion. ramalfica This year the Dramatics Club had as its new advi- ser, Mr. Ludwig. Other lighter items covered were dances, recreational activities, assemblies, and chit-chatf, The staff are given two weeks to gather news and write the stories.
