The Voyage WE are now slanding on 'lhe shore of a vas+ ocean called life. Our lives fhus far have been spenl building ships in which +o cross +his ocean and many of us will remain a while longer +o confinue building and sfrengfhening our ships, buf o+hers will embark immedia'rely. Our ships vary in design and consirucliong some are fasi bul unseaworihy, o+hers are slow buf capable, and a few are large enough +o carry passengers. The shore for which every capfain is sleering his ship we choose +o call success. ln lhe imaginafion of each fhis shore appears different H' is one of +he largesf lands we have yef discovered, slrefching from 'rhe Norih 'ro fhe Souih Pole lhrough every degree of la'ri1'ude. The ocean is a changeable one: a+ 'rimes il' is serene and calm bu+ af o+hers slorms and currenfs rule supreme sfriving 'lo drive us fo lhe boHom. We do noi know wha+ 'rhe voyage holds for us. We may reach ihe porl of realizafion and we may no+. We will, perhaps, be among lhose whose ships will founder and sink, drowning us as 'rhey go down. Whal' we do know is +ha+ ihere are 'lhose who, by good conslruclion in +he pas+ and clever piloiing in lhe fulure, will reach 'ihe harbor and dock quickly and safely. ROBERT A. DON. The Arrow

Class Poem WE are 'rhe young +rees Growing oul' of 'fhe warm earrh, The greying Druids lending 'lheir al+ar flames, Look down upon us in s+a+ely wonder, They shake wi+h genlle laughler, The gnarled, slorm-lossed walch us pass. We are filled wilh a slrange, eager madness: We fling ourselves up 'lhe hillsides: Our arms open +o enfold a sky. Old gian+s, maslers of life, draw aside. We are coming, lhe young, green lhings Up 'lhe hillside! ELIZABETH KLOVEKORN To The Past IT is noi' l'he fulure which men hold dear. Upon +he fulure il is good lo speculale fo build, lo work in ioy, perhaps in pain buf when all is said l'he fulure is fhe region of ihe unexplored. Some shrink from ils breadlh and shadow, olhers embrace if. Bul' il' is lhe pasl' lhal' one learns lo cherish. The splendor of i+ relurns +o us in conlemplalion, poiganl, experienced. More lhree dimensional wiih having lived fhal' pasf, we slrive +o lhink, perhaps discover 'rhal' we have 'lhoughl' or a+ leasl fell lhe deep charm of loveliness which only l'he passage of +ime has laughl' us 'lo cherish. La recherche du lemps perdu is lhe mosl painful, lhe +enderes+ of emolions. We look down and see ihe means by which we have mounled nearer +o lhe free 'lops of our own parlicular li'H'le wood. Or perhaps we sland al' 'lhe rools looking up al 'lhose dislanl' branches and clear blue sky which has receded from lhe seeking grasp. i I+ is lhe pasl which 'reaches men 'ro be cynical, lo be seeking, or lo be resigned and mule, lhe pasl' which he has formed or which has formed him. Soon 'lomorrow will be yeslerday. Bul only un+il +hen will we have lived lo find somerhing new fo become a par'r of us. ELIZABETH KLOVEKORN -l-l'lC ATTOW :Quin
