J r S ss 49 'HL 'vw' 4-Q After a summer of nine band concerts, the retuming band members gaily took their familar seats in the band formation in the church. Mr. Shileny was all pepped up to go with another year of instrumental music. In the fall the Band Mothers sponsored a Corn Cami- val to raise money for band instruments. The night of the camival started with a short concert given by the band. The whole affair was a big success with the crowning of the king and queen, as the highlight of the evening. With the money that was taken in, new instruments were pur- chased for the band. The next concert was given at Christmas in a com- bination vocal and instrumental program. Several num- bers were played by the band, and the band also accom- panied a vocal selection. Coming back from vacation we again resumed our ROSEL'S PHARMACY Your Prescription Headquarters Decorah, Iowa practices. We began practicing our ensembles and solos for the State Music Contest. Representing them as president was Kay Trytteng vice-president, Marilyn Wcmarkg secretary, Linda Bakkcng treasurer JeRoy Fjelstulg and advisor for the year was again Mr. Rober. The first project that was undertaken was a Halloween party given in the fall, with lighted jack-o-lan terns and fall leaves serving as decorations. Bunco was played after which dancing was enjoyed by all feven the boysj. Lunch was then served in the church. The Student Council was in charge of the Christmas party. Christmas carols were stung by all and Mr. Shileny favored us with a violin solo, Santa Claus created quite a sensation with the women teachers. The members of the Student Council passed out the gifts. Another new project which the Student Council engaged in this year was a recreation project. Games, such as earroms, checkers, and cards were set up in the church to be enjoyed by students during their lunch hour. On April 5th a North Eastern conventioriwas held in Cedar Falls. Our school was represented by the of- ficers and some of the other members of the council. The delegates brought back many interesting facts and reported these to the other members. Another great step forward was taken when we joined the Iowa State Student Council Association. Repre- senting the senior class were Andrea Bakken and Charles Meyer. The other underclassmen attendants were not kept in suspense as they had knovxm about it for twelve days. But when the big night arrived they were equally excited. They were chosen by their respective classes. The Junior attendants were Sharon Hove and Duane Harvey. Ramona Anderson and Darryl Spike Rue represented the Sophomore class, and Mary Jane Aga and Bob Meyer were Freshman at- tendants. Shortly before the event, Welcome Alumni and Welcome Notre Dame were assembled in big bold letters on the gym wall. The royal throne in the midfle of the bleachers had been decorated with black and white crepe paper. The Senior Class brought cake, which was served with coffee over in the church. A large crowd assembled in the gym and the crowning took place between the two games. Norvin An- derson, an alumnus of R.I-LS., acted as master of ceremonies. Amid the fanfare of Tommy Trytten's snare drum roll and Sandra Fjelstu.l's piano playing they marched to their respected places. Coach Bra- mer crowned the royal King and Queen. The Queen was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the business men of Ridgeway. The Queen and her attendants were then escorted to their throne to enjoy a thrilling basketball game with Notre Dame, in which they won in two overtimes by two points. A reception for the altunni was held in the church following the game, and a Sock Hop was enjoyed by the younger set in the gym. , l 6 The Royal Court I crown you . . g 4 I . -J I 1 5 in ' 'Hg I I 5 ' X 1 i A I -4 1- .Y X Ummm The 1957 Prom of the Ridgeway High School was held on May 4th, The evening began with a banquet served at the Ridgeway Lutheran Parish Hall by the Junior mothers.
