Twelve days ofanxious waiting preceded the Home- coming festivities for four popular Seniors. These four had been kept in suspense since the day of election and finally,on the afternoon of that festive day of Decem- ber 20th, they learned that Wayne l-lovden and Treva Sime would reign as King and Queen while Cheryl As- chim and Harlan Bakken were chose n by the student body to be attendants from the Senior Class. Not in suspense, but still excited, were the under- classmen attendants: Leilani l-lovden and Alan Rue, Juniorsg Beverly Rue and Denis Wemark, Sophomoresg and Leanne Bakken and Tommy Trytten, Freshmen. The crownbearers, chosen from the first and second grade, were Lorraine Bergan and Dennis Hovden. As the evening drewcloser, letters were put up which spelled out Merry Christmas , Happy New Year , Welcome Alumni , and Welcome Lime Springs . The royal throne in the middle of the bleachers had been decorated in red, green and silver crepe paper. Mrs. Cook and her Home Ec. class had been busy making cookies for the alumni reception after the game. That evening a large crowd was on hand for the games and for the coronation which took place between the boys' and girls' games. Wayne Kreitzer, Student Council president, acted ably as master of ceremonies. Amid the fanfare of four trumpets and Pomp and Cir- cumstance as played on the piano by Sandra Fjelstul, the King, Queen and their royal attendants marched to the middle of the floor for the Coronation. Coach An- derson was called forward to crown the King and Queen. Aftera brief speech by the newly crowned pair, Russell Bakken, ofthe Ridgeway Fire Department, presented the Queen with a bouquet ofpink and white carnations. The Queen and her attendants were then escorted to their throne where they reigned over a thrilling basketball game in which the Ridgeway boys won over Lime Springs by a hair's breadth. The Alumni reception was held in the Church after the game while a Sock Hop was enjoyed by the young- er set in the gym. HRPPY King. HHPDY Qlleenl Where are the crowns?? BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME Ambulance-Radio-Telephone-Oxygen Cresco, Iowa DAHLY CHEVROLET 211 Leif Eriksson Drive Decorah, Iowa The opening of the 1955-56 basketball sea- son showed the loss of5girls from the first team: Lor- raine, Gerry, Leona,Helen, and Norma. Determined to make good along with the rest of the girls were Sandy, Mary, Dclainc, Andrea, and Mavis, the re- turning lettermen. We entered the sectional tourney against great odds. Surprising everyone, we advanced past Proti- vin and Riceville. In our game with Riceville, Sandy tied the girls high score with 39 points which was held by Gerry Ryan. ln the finals we were defeated by Lime Springs and received the runners-up position. With the season completed, our records show the re- sults as 7 wins and 16 losses. We give special thanks to Coach Anderson in ap- preciation for all the effort he has put forth to help us. Thanks also to Bessie Snyder for her work as chaperone. Good Luck to the next year's team! Sectional Runners -up 1 Come on, now! let's get in there and hustle!
