Before we became fully acquainted with our new surroundings, we were properly initiated by the honorable juniors. During the year two classmates, Gary Hove and Barbara Baker, left us. In our sophomore year we were happy to welcome Gary Hove to our class again, In the fall of 1953, sixteen old members returned and Rex Barnes joined us, Each member of the class certainly had his thinking cap on when it came to initiating the freshmen, Nearly all known punishment in the book was enforced. We presented our junior class play 'New Fires, under the direction of Mrs, Ingersoll. During the month of February, we were all thrilled when we received our class rings! One of the high lights of this busy year was our Junior-Senior Prom, Our theme was Starlight, The finalyearforus brought only thirteen members back, Carol Jean Gunhus, Rex Barnes, Richard Halverson and Gary Eugebretson failed to return. Before Christmas we enjoyed a day at Mason City, where wc had our senior pictures taken. We spent a worth-while day in Rochester on our social living field trip. Everyone had fun during the rehearsals of our senior class play, Mother Is A Freshmanf' directed by Mrs, Ingersoll. Our skip day proved to be a day long remembered, In the spring we seniors were guests of the juniors at the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. PETERSON SALES 8. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior class of 1955, being of sound mind and strong physique, but weak pocketbooks, bequeath the following, our only possessions worthy of mention, to our Junior friends: I, Mary Huhe, will my desk in the assembly to Mariam Albers so that she can be first in the hot lunch line. 1, Geraldine Ryan, will my position as post forward to Sandra Amundson. I, Gary Hove, will to Norvin Anderson, my ability to catch up on much needed sleep during school hours. We, the Senior boys, will our many gripes and grievances in good old RHS to Richard Armstrong, I, Helen Anderson, will my pony tail to Cheryl Aschim, so that she can be a full-fledged member of the Ridge- way Mustangs. We, Joyce Smith and Lorraine Gilbertson, will our ability to get Mr, Shileny off on a tangent so that the assign- ment can be carried over to the next day, to Harlan Bakken. I, Eugene Andrus, will my excellent cooperation with Mr. Shileny to Wayne Hovden. May he always remain as faithful as I was. I, Shirley Thompson, will my gavel to Wayne Kreitzer to help him keep order in Student Council meetings next year. I, John Dahle, will my bashfulness and quiet ways to Richard Ladwig. We, Geraldine Ryan, Norma Jean Mikota, and Helen Anderson will our ability to go steady and remain truthful, to Elaine Phipps. I, Norma Jean Mikota, will my ability to study to Milton Quam. I, Leona Snyder, will my ability to become engaged in my Senior year, to Marie Rinken. I, Arthur Samec, willto Mary Ryan my ability to conduct my time wisely so that I finish my assignments in school and can spend a gay, carefree evening at home. We, Leona Snyder, Shirley Thompson, and Mary Huhe will our many talents to Treva Sime if she can find any that she doesn't already have. I, Joyce Smith, will to my sister Jean, my ability to be on time for the bus so she won't have to walk to school. I, Lorraine Gilbertson, will my badly worn basketball shoes which are well accustomed to our slippery gym floor, to Delaine Vatthauer, To the teachers: Mr. Seim: A more pliable Senior class so that he has less trouble making important decisions. Mr. Shileny: We retum the poor grades we acquired in our three years as students under him so that he can use them in future classes, Mr, Anderson: Two champion basketball teams that won't let him down, Mr, Rober: The assurance of a 'second helping' so that he doesn't have to go hungry, Mrs. Ingersoll: Ten dollars so she can sponsor another whole page in next year's annual. Mrs. Cook: Added hope that a few more sewing machines and other equipment will be added to the Home Eco- nomics unit in the near future. Mrs. Owen: Excellent vocal groups that will stand as high in her regard as Ossian Public, To the cooks: A bottle of alka-seltzer to chase away the indigestion due to Mr, Rober's generosity following bio- logical disections. To the janitor: Another year of friendly companionship in the 'faculty lounge' providing the same teachers return. We hereby authorize Mr. Rober as sole administrator to see that this will is carried out. Witnesses: Norma Jean Mikota Signed ----V-The Senior class. Geraldine Ryan Leona Snyder Class Rings W. H. Pastry The stores of quality and service Clear Lake, Iowa Spillville, Iowa MANAGERS D . t 5 4 30 Cary Norvin Wayne Coach When coach Elmer Anderson issued his call for basketball players, only three lettermen came forth. They were Wayne Hovden, Nor- vin Anderson, and Harlan Bakken. None of these three had any previous first string experience. Thus, Coach Anderson tackled the rough job of rebuilding the team. Due largely to inexperience, the season ended with a five won and eighteen lost record. However, Ridgeway finished in fifth place in the How-Winn Conference. Two of the games. Calmar and Protivin fHornecomingJ, ended in a tie, only to be lost in the overtime, However, as the season rolled on, the team gained a lot of experience which can be used in future seasons.
