Indoor Track Has a Great Year! The Ridgeway Indoor Track team had a successful year. They were the only team in their league to compete in indoor track. Because of this they competed in the Delta League which is com- posed of schools much bigger than Ridgeway. Cross Country l978 proved to be a victorious year for the girl's Cross Country Team. The team's outstanding efforts inspired by Coach Conn resulted in several wins. The girl's team placed first in four of six meets. Debbie Johnson. Fonda Phillips. and Laura Frank were among the team's most consistent runners. For the first time. the girl's team placed first in the League finals. The boy's team also participated in the finals. Derrick Webb was an out- standing runner for the team. Boys Outdoor Track Runs Away With Title Ridgeway had an extraordinary outdoor track sea- son this year. Some outstanding members of the team were Johnny Walker, Ricky Meadows, John Price, George Townsend, Keith Obert and Dewayne Brown. The Most Valuable Member was Jim Nelson who broke school records in the long jump, pole vault relay and the 440 relay. Also participating in the relays were John Price, Dewayne Brown, and Ricky Meadows. Placing in the district were Clay Younts and Keith Obert and in the regionals was Jim Nelson.
