RIDGEWAY COMPLETES MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON The Ridgeway Roadrunners posted another great season with an eight win - two loss record. The team's wins were the result of strong leadership and over-all team cooperation. Several outstanding play- ers were recognized by the Ridgeway coaching staff and awarded for their efforts. Ricky Meadows was selected for the All MIAA team and the All-State team. He was honored with the title of Prep Player of the Week by the Commer- cial Appeal for the six touchdowns he scored in the Towering Oaks game. He was the leading scorer with 102 points. John Price was the team's leading rusher with 714 yards for 10 touchdowns. Johnny Walker was also selected for the All-MIAA team. Stan Weaver was a member of the All-MIAA team for the second consecutive year. His punt average for the year was 41.4 and he was 34 for 42 on extra points. Clay Younts was another member of the All-MIAA team. He was also selected as Player of the Week for his outstanding playing. At the closing of the season, Ridgeway accepted a bid to the Pinson Ruritan Bowl in Jackson. Although the team lost to Trenton 27-17, several players received awards. They were: Scott Bryant, Best Defensive Player: Ricky Meadows, Most Tackles: Clay Younts, Best Offensive Player, and Steve Smith, Sportsmanship Award.
