Ridgeway DECA Third in Nation This year's DECA Chapter was the busiest and most successful yet. They had a number of projects including participation in a Haunted House, a con- cession booth at the Germantown Festival, and Employee Breakfast, elementary school programs, and a Halloween Festival. The Chapter had several guest speakers at their meetings, including State Rep- resentative Joe Kent QR-Memphisj and Marion Bur- gess, a Channel 3 personality. Ridgeway DECA was very successful in the competi- tive events with twenty members going to Regional, seventeen going to State and four going to National. While at the National Convention, Ridgeway's DECA Chapter came in third out of 3000 DECA Chapters. DECA had a very rewarding and success- ful year. The dignified President Savage at Chan- nel 3. Sr. High Student Council Shows Leadership This year's Student Council got off to an impressive start. The fund raising pro- ject for the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Tele- thon was a huge success. The students raised Sl l5.00. The theme for the Football Homecoming Dance. the 2nd activity sponsored by the Student Council, was A Shower of Stars. The decoration commit- tee was headed by Maxine Bilsky. Later in the year. the presentation of the School of the Month Award was held at the Board of Education. Receiving the award were Mrs. Terrell.
