Wrestling Record Improves This was the second year for Ridgeway's wrestling team. Their record. 4-9, was improved from last year's. Steve Barnette was selected as captain of the team. Doug Elting did well in his first year of wrestling by placing 4th in the district. Ricky Pollan placed 2nd in the district and Warren Concepcion placed 4th in the district. Ricky and Warren placed 4th in the region. By their placement in the region, they advanced to the state tournament. Ricky wrestled in the ll2 weight division and Warren in the l05 weight division. Swim Team Enjoys an Excellent Year Directed by Coach Stan House, the swim team ended the season on February 21 with an excellent record. The team captured the Division AA championship and finished third in the MIAA Finals. Losing only to CBHS and Raleigh-Egypt, this year's effort proved to be one of the best seasons in the swim team's history. Experienced swimmers returning from last year included Mike Trapp, Mike Swift, and David Williford. Coach House said that each member of the swim team contributed greatly to its success.
