Boys Outdoor Track Runs Away With Title Ridgeway had an extraordinary outdoor track sea- son this year. Some outstanding members of the team were Johnny Walker, Ricky Meadows, John Price, George Townsend, Keith Obert and Dewayne Brown. The Most Valuable Member was Jim Nelson who broke school records in the long jump, pole vault relay and the 440 relay. Also participating in the relays were John Price, Dewayne Brown, and Ricky Meadows. Placing in the district were Clay Younts and Keith Obert and in the regionals was Jim Nelson. Indoor Track Has a Great Year! The Ridgeway Indoor Track team had a successful year. They were the only team in their league to compete in indoor track. Because of this they competed in the Delta League which is com- posed of schools much bigger than Ridgeway. I Girls Track Team Has a Good Season The 1978-79 Senior High Girls Track team started the year off with a win over White Station and Sheffield. This was the first time in the school history that the girls' Track Team has won a meet. The girls continued to work hard and brought home several first and second place finishes. Kelly Novak, Debbie Johnson, Kelly Johnson, and Fonda Phil- lips made the league finals. Kelly Johnson, Kelly Novak, Debbie Johnson, and Fonda Phillips made the city QMIAAJ finals. Kelly Johnson and Debbie John- son placed in the District finals. With such a young team it was a good season.
