CLASS SONG We Seniors all are gathered here in good old Ridgeville High, We’ve had our hours of joy and cheer, but now we all must sigh, We'll not forget our many cares our teachers and our friends, Our school days now are ever o’er. We Seniors have worked hand in hand stood by each other, too, And formed strong protecting band, the many and the few. That's why we've gathered here tonight, to wish each other well With sadness in our voice we bid: To R.H.S. farewell. 12 ecf News flashes from R C 0 Broadcasting Co. II! This is your master of ceremonies, Marcus Buehrer, giving you the news of this industrial town of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio and surrounding area. The other day I was roving through an old file of papers, and found a record of the Class of 19 9, and after twenty-three years, I will endeavor to give you a brief account of the happenings since the last day we took our seats at Ridgeville High School. Mrs. John Miller, the former Virginia Behnfeldt, has surprised the nation by adding to her family of four, six-tuplits. It seems as though she is competing with Mrs. Dionne of Canada. Walter Alexander has accepted a position in Hollywood, photographing actors and actresses. Lucky you!!! Lugbill's Stock Market is proud to have in its employment, Vernon Tietje, the famous auctioneer. Ringling Bros, and Barnum Bailey have two new giants in their acts. Walter Meyer and Marvin Beck have suddenly sprung to new heights. Carolyn Seibold has enlarged her beauty salon by opening a branch shop in New York. Lois Heiberg is at Heidelberg University, Germany, teaching Com- merical Subjects. Norman Gerken has become a professional photographer. Recently his pictures of farm animals appeared on sale bills issued by the Donald Hurst Dairy farm. Eunice Knape has accepted a position with Phil Spitalny's Orchestra as a pianist. Marianne Damman is doing Missionary work in India. We will now pause for an intermission. Listen now to the story of Carl’s (Dietrich) other Romance , and find out who the other lady prospect is. Mr. Dean Short will now continue the news by giving you the weather forecasts fcr the next five ye rs, listen to find out when he says the next ground-hog will appear. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Badenhop, the former Marcella Damman, are trying to make a living by raising poultry on a nearby farm. Miss Lavina Gerken is a so-called maid in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Miller, the former Elverna Gerken. Notice ! !! Ridgeville Corners has just been notified that Edward Schroeder has purchased Sun Valley, in Idaho, and is now in retirement. He has accumulated quite some money from his nearby farm. Werner Badenhop and John Damman have one into a partnership by rais- ing Ayrshire cows on the Ba-Da Dairy Farm . 13 Lorna Meienbrug after cultivating her voice by repeating nursery ilmes at a rapid speed, is now employed by Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Cleve- land. Mary Ann Rosebrock is assistant manager of the Vogue Dress Shop in Hollywood. Elvera Gerken is a prominent dress designer, and Mary Jane Shibler is a successful model in the Carnegie Modeling Agency in New York. The governor ofNew York has anno' nced that he has in his office a new sparkling secretary, by the name of Norma Jean Hesterman. She also models beach wear, which may have helped the governor make his selection. And now friends when you come to this important city to do your shop- ping, do not forget to buy your best selection of grizzly-grizzle-meat at Lu and Rose meat market, owned by Lucille Mohring and Rosella Gerken. At last we've arrived at one of the milestones in our lives—high school graduation. It's been a long hard struggle for some of us, but for most of us, the time spent in the classrooms of Ridgeville High School has gone much too rapidly. During the first month of our four year sojourn in the halls of R.H.S. we elected these officers: President, Marcus Buehrer; Vice Presi- dent, Rosella Gerken; Secretary, Virginia Behnfeldt; Treasurer, Edward Schroeder; and adviser, Mr. Miller. The Sophomore class made us bona fide members of the school by initiating us. Our sophomore year found us more involved in high school work. Our English class elected Eunice Knape and Marcus Buehrer editors of the Hi Stepa which we published every month. As is the usual custom, the Sophomores were in charge of thu concessions at basketball games. Our officers this year were President, Marcus Buehrer; Vice President, Edward Schroeder; Secretary, Virginia Behnfeldt; Treasurer, Rosella Gerken, and adviser, Mr. Ebersole. The high light of our Junior year was the performance of The Dar- ling Brats with Lucille Mohring and Marvin Beck in the roles of the Brats. In May we converted the gymnasium to a ranch scene and after a banquet we entertained the Seniors and faculty members with a western movie. Our class leaders were President, Marcus Buehrer; Vice Presi- dent, Edward Schroeder; Secretary, Virginia Behnfeldt; Treasurer, Norma Jean Hesterman, and adviser, Mrs. Davis. Of the 39 Freshmen who enrolled in the fall of 19 5, 27 boys and girls received their diplomas on May 19. During the senior year we were kept busy by the work on the annual of which Eunice Knape and Rosella Gerken were editors; the senior play, Mama1s Baby Bov which was given to an appreciative crowd on May 6; the Junior-Senior Banquet held on May 11, and the other commencement activities. Our commencement address was delivered by 0. P. Kretzmann, President of Valparaiso University. The Baccalaureate services were in charge of Rev. L. M. Zehner. We climaxed the high school year by our trip to Washington, D.C. 14 aCEfto $■unior5 First Row: Dorothy Gerken, Arnold Miller, Arlene Lohse, Robert Dehnbostel, Margaret Baden, Richard Brandt, Phyllis Dehnbostel, Arthur Hesterman, Second Row: Lois Burkholder, Carl Rosebrock, Lorna Gerken, Donald Baden, Mary Meyer, Theodore Freytag, Third Row: Marilyn Timm, Arnold Rosebrock, Donna Jean Burkholder, Kent Ruffer, Laura Miller, Ramon Zimmer, Miss Heilman, Roger Eicher, Fourth Row: Robert Layman, Edwin Delventhal, Jane Conway, Richard Kulp, Lois Ann Heldberg, Paul Rohrs, Myra Gauvey, Leonard Norden, Absent: Darwin Beck CLASS OFFICERS Jane Conway Kent Ruffer Laura Miller Marilyn Timm President Vice President Secretary Treasurer We are proud to be wearing our class rings which we received in November. Under Public Law 377 enacted by the 80th Congress which became effect- ive September 1, 19 7, Agriculture Training was made a seperate phase of Veterans Education and Training and was specifically designated as Insti- tutional On-Farm Training. The Agricultural Training for Veterans has been in progress in the Ridgeville School since February 1, 19 7. Mr. Olen V. Genter is the in- structor of the Veterans Agriculture Class. Mr. Charles Schlotterbeck, the Vocational Agriculture instructor, has been assisting the program. The fundamental purpose of the program in the school is to provide such training as will most quickly and satisfactorily enable the veteran trainee to become established in farming. In the first and second year classes, the instructional program, was built around the needs of the veterans. Both on-farm and off-farm instruction were conducted on a seasonal basis, with due regard to the immediate needs and interests of the veterans as prescribed in Federal standards relating to the program. Twenty-five veterans completed this course on February 1, 19 9- The fifteen students having additional legal entitlement enrolled in the third and fourth year classes. The program for these classes will be on Farm Management which will give major emphasis to: Reteaching Topics, Seasonal Topics, Field Trips, and Farm Shop. 39 LACHOY FOOD PRODUCTS DIV.
