Iust fifty-one members of the class of '46 dashing to greet each other and Miss Ruth Dulmage for the first time in September, 1942, as freshmen. Our foremost business affair was the election of officers and we took great pride in our choice, for they were as follows: President, Donald Falknerg Vice President, Florence Line, Secretary, Virginia Lyons: Treasurer, Gerald Beesingg Social Chairman, Robert Schmittgeng Student Council, Donna Worcester. The next crisis to occur was the Freshman Party. We were nervous and our hearts were filled with joy and fear. The seniors of '43 demanded that the girls were not to wear any type of hair pins and were also not to apply cosmetics to aid their beauty. 'I'he boys looked like Chinamen, for they wore their shirts and ties backward. At the party in the evening, we were ushered into a large room where they gave us suckers and large kelly green bows for our hair and, worst of all, a sign was pinned on us saying, 'I am a freshie! It was a big compliment to us, because the seniors were admitting that a sign was necessary since we neither looked nor acted as freshmen. Our freshman year was completed by our daily lessons and duties, we looked forward to our sophomore year. Miss Dorothy Smith was our advisor during the sophomore year. Eleven of our class- mates had left us during vacation, and we welcomed four new members to our happy fam- ily: Marshall Houston, Curtis Paye, George Schwinn, and lack Hollinger. Our class officers for the year were: President, Donald Falkner, Vice President,. Gerald Beesingg Secretary, Mary Schultz: Treasurer. Paul Rothgeryg Social Chairman, Iames Woody Student Council Representative, Robert Schmittgen. For social activities, we gave an assembly program to entertain the other members of our school. lt was a play reminiscent of our grade school days, when we drew strange pictures on the blackboards, and the boys happily swished pigtails in the ink wells while everyone liked to crack bubble gum. What a lot of fun we had at birthday parties that year! Iinny and Bob were too young to mind telling their ages then. Our junior year opened by welcoming Mrs. Winona Newton to Ridgeville School. She guided our many undertakings during this eventful year. The class selection of officers were: President, Robert Kammiller, Vice President, Florence Line, Secretary, Donelda Rup- pelt, Treasurer, Donald Falknerg Program Chairman, Donna Worcester, Student Council Re- presentative, Robert Schmittgen. The class was now composed of thirty-six members, in- cluding three new members whom we had taken under our wings. They were Iune Mc- Gucken, Patricia Maddock, and Mike Demyan. Our junior year was distinguished by both V-E and V-I Days. It was a year of victory to us and to our nation. As a class, we climb- ed over the top to exceed all previous school records in the selling of magazinesg Neil Hen- son was our super salesman. Our prom was another victory of achievement. The setting of our prom was a Southern Colonial Garden. We all liked the garlands of roses and that swing, didn't we? Oh! Will the girls ever quit raving about the orchestra? Still another victory was the choice of our class rings by a unanimous vote. It seemed to us as though we had ordered heaven, or at least a pass word into the senior room. We did enter into the senior room a few months later, and, of course, no Ridgeville Seniors have ever been prouder of their achievement. Mr. M. C. Allen is the person we will always remember for the wise and sound advice on all important problems whichloccurred. The of- I-'Iva ALL SCHOOL PLAY SENIOR CLASS PLAY Sl X ficers for this, our last year, are: President, Robert Kammiller, Vice President, Bud Andrews: Secretary, Donelda Ruppelt, Treasurer, Robert Schmittgen, Program Chairman, Eleanor Pais, Student Council Representative, Donna Worcester. The first social event of the year was the Freshman Party. We sincerely hope that we, the class of '46, gave the class of '49 as much hazing and fun as was given to us when we were freshmen. As seniors, we have had an excuse to go over to Lorain to visit Rudy Moc. lust wait un- til youlsee our pictures! lust wait until a Hollywood scout sees them! Yes! lust wait! This year, our basketball team was a winner in the Lorain County Basketball Tournament, bring- ing to our school two outstanding trophies. Five members of our class were vital players on the team: Don Falkner, captain, Bud Andrews, Neil Henson, Bob Kammiller, and Bob Schmitt- gen. We are very proud of our two talented members. Lillie Belle Ramsey won first prize in the Sectional Safety Poster Contest sponsored by Cleveland Automobile Club. Her poster is now displayed in Washington, D. C., for the National Competition. Don Falkner has been awarded a four-year scholarship at Baldwin-Wallace College, where he will delve into the depths of a pre-law course. Members of the class who left us to serve Uncle Sam during the war are: Gerald Beesing, Richard Chamberlain, Iohn Payer, Glenn Hopkins, Walter Keith, Curtis Paye, Robert Traut, Iames Wood, and Lawrence Taylor. We do thank Miss Elizabeth Wilcox, our superintendent, and all teachers who have help- ed us, and we hope that in the future, we will not disappoint anyone who may have had faith in us. When, on May 22, 1946, we receive our long cherished prize, our diploma, we will each de- cide on a new goal in life's school. But we will never forget our Alma Mater, dear old Ridgeville High. C. Eleanor, whose husband is a naval officer, is busy caring for her three children, Rose Wood, Red Wood and little Plye Wood. These two old friends' favorite pastime seems to be relat- ing news they hear about their old classmates of '46. It was Lillie Belle's luck to run into ROBERT SCHMITTGEN on her way to Washington, who gave her first hand information about all the rest of their class, since he is a salesman, traveling over most of the civilized world and Eaton, too. He now holds the record for never having been turned away from any door. This success may be due to his pleasing smile and winning personality. Bob told of hailing a taxi to catch his train and to his surprise, finding GEORGE SCHWINN behind the wheel. His early experience in high school may have helped in his choice of oc- cupations. On the way to the station, George pointed out to Bob, HOLLINGER'S GARAGE, now open for business. But the car that seems to give IACK the most business is his own. But in spite of all their gossip, they had to take time out for refreshments and listen to their favorite radio program, Hit Parade, consisting of former classmates. The announcer, WIL- BUR Sl-IEAK, with that well-known voice of his introduces the lack Kodysh Orchestra, starring DONNA WORCESTER as soloist singing Hubba! Hubba! Thena pause for station iden- tificationuand a word from NEIL HENSON, THE auctioneer. Neil, because of earlier exper- iences, has taken up smoking more seriously than we had ever anticipated. As to the rest of the class, we find them pretty well scattered all over the United States. ILONA POHLOD will be in Ridgeville soon to deliver her campaign speech for the 1956 presidential election. She is the first woman candidate for this office. Results so far show that she is winning over her Republican rival, Thomas E. Dewey, who is still in hopes of be- ing president some day. Speaking of our old home town, l just saw a piece in the paper the other day that I think you would all be interested in hearing about.. DONALD FALKNER, an up and coming young citizen of North Ridgeville, was just recently elected Water Commissioner of that same town. VERN ANDREWS, now a prominent lawyer, is settling a dispute between MIKE DEMYAN and WILLIAM ODY over the poisoned calf. It seems that Ody dumped some kerosene in the same stream where Demyan's cows quench their thirst. Ear off in New York, you can find IOSEPHINE and ERNESTINE ECKENFELS appearing on the stage for their famous ballet dancing. We met MARY SCHULTZ in a pet shop yesterday buying a cat and a parrot. She informs us she is settling down to a contented life of her own. -Already a well-known celebrity, ELEANOR PAIS is making a tour with that one and only Lawrence Tibbet. She holds the training she received in Ridgeville High School respon- sible for this exasperating career. Astonishing all her former classmates, DONELDA RUPPELT makes the factfknown that she is now entertaining as a night club hostess. Good luck in your unusual career, Donelda. And if any of you are interested in reading some really good books, you might be inter- ested in CURTIS PAYE'S latest book How I Sleep Without Snoring. Any former class- mate can help verify this statement. LOUISE BIERMACHER is now assisting all young housewives in remodeling their chicken coops into convenient living quarters. This summer you'll probably hear about the United States' star entry, PAUL ROTHGERY, in the 1956 Olympic Games to be held in Holland. His great speed has really placed Ridge- ville on the map. It is true that VIRGINIA LYONS has established her own personal column in the Chronicle Telegram, called Lose Lots and Look Lovelier with Lyons . IUNE MCGUCKEN has just won first prize in a county fair for one of those delicious choc- olate cakes, well known to her husband, Peanuts. In any large city in Ohio, you can usually find one of those famous Loretta doughnut shops, which are prospering very rapidly due to LORETTA MEECHA'S early experience in doughnut making at the Volunteer Market. As we turn to our favorite section ot the daily paper, we find ROBERT KAMMILLER'S fam- ous comic strip Lil' Clem and Daisy june . Daisy Mae at last caught her man, Li'l Abner, so now let's see the man doing the chasing, with. Lil' Clem using all means, fair or foul to capture Daisy Iune. You don't suppose Bob could have gotten any ideas for this comic strip while he was still in school. If any of you are in need of a doctor, and I do mean desperately, we suggest you call in DOCTOR LINE. FLORENCES sure cure remedies have proven to be too successful, nobody ever lives to have any more trouble. ' Yes, COLLETTA DENT is keeping herself pretty busy these days trying to satisfy the women with new hair styles. I-Ier beauty shop is only a short distance form Loretta's doughnut shop. So, just fill your pockets up and come right along and wait your turn. Professor NORMAN HETSLER will be the guest speaker at the Ridgeville Garden Club this coming week. Because of his extensive study as a horticulturalist, he will demonstrate to the ladies how flowers are grown and not weeds. This should prove to be quite an in- teresting talk, especially since Norman is a woman. hater and who knows what will happen when they all start crowding around him, asking silly questions. After much searching, we finally located our classmate, YOLANDA VERES. We found her living on a large ranch in Wyoming trying to round up some of the cattle and her husband He seemed to be giving her a little trouble. Deciding that it would be a good idea to pass on all her knowledge on the subject How to Study, PATRICIA MADDOCK is making a tour of all the schools in Ohio. She should know if anyone should. MARTHA KLEIN is living a very contented life on an orange grove in California. If any of you should get out that way, look her up, she's almost. as sunkist as her oranges. t Eleven Wil We, the members of the Class of '46, being of sound mind and body, in order to dispose of all our traits, characteristics and bad habits, do hereby ordain and establish this, our last will and testament: ' Vern Harry Andrews, Ir., will my spontaneous sense of humor to Iohn Galajda.
