Qfddtafzq On that day in May, when a group of eighth grade boys and girls received their report cards reading WPromoted to the Ninth Graden everyone was very excited and enthusiastic, During that summer, when we were tngether, we would find Jurselves continually saying HI'm a freshman, glad when school starts? because we were so anxious to enter the ninth grade. On September third, forty-five cooperative freshmen entered high school. We spread through different activities. .nese were basketball, football, glee club, dramatics, band, handicraft, library staff and club. Playing basketball that year were: Faye Ramseur, Mary Neal, Ruby Burch, Betty Greene, Minnie Rowe, Bobby Warlick, Paul Carter, Marshall Sudderth, George Johrson, Willie Pope and Edward Dula. Participating in football were: Marshall Sudderth, Walter Childs, George Johnson and William Finger. The Glee Club had Freshmen too. They were: Bettye Greene, Walter Childs, Paul Carter, Dorothy Finger, and Willie Pope. Fresh- man band members were: Willie Pope, Edward Dula, William Primus, Dorothy Currye, Charles Mackey, Mary Neal and Minnie Rowe. Members of the handicraft activitv were: Marshall Sr'derth, William Finger, Ruby Burch, Hubert Morrison, James Alred, Bobby Brown, Eugene McCorkle, Eugene Barringer. Dramatic members were: Robert Warlick, James Grier, Faye Ram- seur, Geraldine Gore and Conchitta Milligan. Library Club members werei Robert Warlick, James Grier, Jack Carter and Eugene Barringer. During that year, our home room teacher was Mrs. A. D. Jones, a very patient and understanding teacher. The most interesting event that year was the Freshman Ball. fhat year the class officers were: President - Edward Dula, Vice President - Mary Neal, Secre- tary-Conchitta Milligan and Treasurer - Nathaniel Hough. As time changes, minds change, so by the time we entered our Sophomorr year, many had dropped out of one activity to join another, but our class was still prominent in sports with Football players like Hebert Warlick, Walter Childs, William Finger, George Johnson, william Primus, Charles Mackey, Hubert Morrison and Eobby Brown and basketball players like Robert warlick, William Finger, George John- son, William Primus, Minnie Rowe, Mary Neal, Faye Ramseur and Jack Carter. Our home-room teacher that year was Mrs. S. K. McRae. Returning to school on August twenty-eight 1957, we had lost quite a few classmates but those of us remaining were still deter- mined to reach our goal Hthe twelfth grade? We entered the eleventh grade ready to plan for the Junior-Senior Prom. Our Principal said 1 quote, Hthe best and most orderly prom ber of years? That year our teacher was our prom pdssible. Without her we would September third 1958 finally rolled last. With thirty seniors and Mr. T. H. began the year. One of the early events Ridgeview contest.
