Speed, speed and more speed was the requirement for those quick opening mouse trap plays of split second timing which took our opponents by surprise. Uur squad this season wrote a new page in football history at Ridgeview. Although we defeated Lenoir, Morganton, Wilkesboro and Newton, our victory over the Happy Plains Warriors of Taylorsville by a score of 6 to 86 carried the highest score by which any Ridgeview team has ever defeated an opponent in the fourteen years of football history at Ridgeview. We share credit for this honor with our Coach, Mr. H. L. Faggett, who preaches the importance of our keeping in good physical condition. Although we enjoy winning, we feel that the true value in foot- ball, as in any other high school sport, comes from meeting new fellows, taking proper care of our physical bodies and practicing good sports- manship. On our team this year were Theodore Powell, right Ahalfg James Fisher, quarterback, Rossilee Killian, fullback, and Aiilrew Hull, a Freshman who broke through the second string and made the varsity, the only Freshman on the team, at left half. In the line at the ends were the Hill brothers, Ossie and Henry, at the tackles, James Dula and Cecil Bumgarner, at the guards there were Leonard Howell and James Monroe, and, believe me, it was good to have these two guards running interference for you. Last but not least, at center there was Willie Lee Hall. Although each member of the squad contributed in full his share of success of the season, I feel that Ossie Hill at end, James Fisher at quarterback, Willie Lee Hall at center and Cecil Bum- garner at tackle deserve special mention.
