Freshman Home Making Class of 1941 is getting along nice- ' ly. Almost all of our members give good service. When we .ff cook we are divided into two groups, one group is called the V house keeper, whose duties are numerous, some of which are: 1. Bring :EQ A out supplies, 2. Straighten the shelves in the pantry, 3. Wash dish tow- lil ill? f .315 els, 4. Put away supplies at the close of the lesson, 5. Clean the sink. A .Qi We are cooking practical foods such as we have at home. Our cook- ' A rvty- p P lt :lv ing days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. With the cooperation of Mrs. C. H. Booker, our teacher, we have . been working with very great interest since September in our unit, - ii uSatisfying and Beautifying Surroundings. We bought a dining room ' suite and wicker set and repainted and recovered them. We have also t X bought a set of dishes, with silverware and glassware to match. We Zvi. have made table cloths and scarfs for all parts of our dining suite. Most of these were made out of sugar and flour sacks dyed various colors. We are making all kinds of stuiied animals for our exhibit, along with many other articles. A. Dill- ard and Mrs. M. S. Mitchell, both of whom are ably assisted by Miss L. Y. Washington as accompanist in practices, is doing a type of Work of which the school is proud. The club fills engage- ments for the various Churches and organizations in Hickory. The school takes its greatest pride in its Glee Club from the fact that it is a training institution for the future members of the various Church choirs of the City.
