Well, it's being able to push around a freshman because you're bigger than he is . It's being left out of senior activities be- cause you're too young, yet. And, it's winning the Homecoming float contest, getting your Tolo candi- date crowned King , and working your fingers to the bone in order to put on the best Junior-Senior Prom Ridgefield High has ever seen. Yes, despite the disadvantages of not quite yet being the big cheese , the junior class of 1970- 71 was actually the most active one. 4 1 I l 4 The 1970-71 Junior class officers were, from left, Mark Schmitz, pres. 9 Cheryl McCuiston, sec. g and Tim Kane, vice president. After decor- ating, a visitor from the North Pole came. For entertainment, the El Toro Spanish club had a pinata for the workers to play with. In 334 strokes, the Spudders waltzed their way into fourth place at sub-district. Since the game of golf began at Ridgefield High in 1967, team members have proven them- selves as worthy golfers. Randy Hilberg and Sam Duncan had started on the team when they were just freshmen. Since that time they have held the positions of numbers one and two. In the game, the best way to winning is to have experience. That is the key word, and our win- ning team has had plenty of it. Greg Jones, Steve Gretsch, and Tim Jenkins were also valu- able assets to the team. Number one man and medalist was Randy Hilberg. golff65 Volleyball Season a Good One The 1970 volleyball season was the sec- ond one for the Ridgefield High School girl athletes. Being so, it was still a very good one in the way of wins. The team participated in a five-school jamboree involving Fort Vancouver, Col- umbia River, Battle Ground, and Evergreen high schools. The junior varsity success- fully grabbed the trophy for their division. The varsity team took second place. As a total summary of the season, the varsity squad came up smelling like roses with a winfloss record of six and four, re- spectively. Despite the handicap of being a small school, the team really demon- strated their man-power. The junior varsity team didn't do quite so well and ended up with a winfloss record of three and five, respectively. Q , Q ,Vmzg ,.,., 'k ,a :'?3t . ' 5 .-N 1 . , 5, vs ,if so V' ., . ,W , . , 55.
