WILLIAM SNYDER This years’ Yearbook is being dedi- cated to William A. Snyder for his contri- butions to the High School. After corre- sponding with Mr. Snyder, several of his comments ideas were shared: “The contributions by me (and my wife, of course) were made jointly with my em- ployer, Hughes Aircraft Company, under their gift matching plan, which I feel is a commendable public service policy on their part.’’ “I attended elementary school (except for 6th 7th in Chicago) in RidgeFarm, graduating in 1942. (In those days it was RidgeFarm Township High School.)’ Mr. Snyder was not the only one in his family to attend RFHS, as did his moth- er, father, mother’s parents grandpar- ents. “Many of my most pleasant memo- ries are of living attending school in RidgeFarm, and I have benefited from, and recall with gratitude, the efforts and kindness of many RidgeFarm people.” “Incidentally, RidgeFarm is larger than many other Illinois towns, it is not “Small time” to live in a small town. In many ways a rural community is far better to live in than a city. Generally I consider additions to facilities or equip- ment as good, for these benefit all (or large groups) of the student body last for some years.” “I attended the University of Illinois, Oklahoma University. the University of California at Los Angeles, majoring in physics with mathematics as a minor. I participated in football track in high school and at Oklhanma University.” “A smaller school has the advantages of small classes closer student-teacher contact, also the opportunity for every student to participate in school activities. On the other hand, limitations in facili- ties curriculum must be expected. The healthful rural environment is a great as- set.” “My wife Floralynn I live in Hidden Hills, a small community in the Cala- hanas area just west of the SanFernando Valley adjacent to the City of Los An- geles. Our two sons (Bill and Bob) and their wives live very near us. while Susan, mother of our 3-year old granddaughter, lives in Glendale, another Los Angeles Suburb. The younger daughter, Barbara Ann, is a senior at U.C.L.A. I am in my twentieth year at Hughes Aircraft Com- pany where 1 work on communication satellites.” “After high school I attended the Uni- versity of Illinois for one year before go- ing into the navy. I served briefly again in the navy during the Korean War. after which the family located in the lx s An- geles area, where we have been ever since.” Thank you again for honoring me in this way. 1 wish you and your classmates the very greatest success.” (The Senior Class of 1981.) — Bill Snyder Mr. Snyder has donated the Bulldog sign in our front lawn the new lights that were installed in the gym this Spring. One can see that Mr. Snyder is very humble with his statement “I know that many people support the high school community in one way or another, I question whether special recognition is, due me, but I am very pleased. It is in- deed an honor for me.” DEDICATIONS
