This won't hurt much! Mrs. Williams is ready and waiting with bandaids for cuts and smiles for pain. And like a nurse, Lois and Jo Ann are there to stop that throbbing in our stomachs. LOIS LEWIS JO ANN SELLERS Our thanks are many for those who made our school year complete. Hey Lois, what's for dinner?! ?7 RICHARD JACKSON Whoever said that a janitor just sits in the big red chair in the boiler room didn't know what they were talking about. As the saying goes, ”A janitors' work is never done! From 6:00 in the morning, until 10:00 at night, there is always a janitor in the building. Come Saturday, they're on call and when summer vacation for students arrive, the janitors are still here, dust- ing, mopping, cleaning, and sweeping, and doing all those other things that a jan- itor does to keep his work from never getting done. ?8 il: Beth Bledsoe Glen Packer Sandy Copsy Gloria Harvey Mike Miller Gary Stokes Sherry Ehlenfeld Jerry Walter Malia Hamilton Tony Smiley Tonda Priest Chris Lierman Jo Johnson Jim Woody a rd Marcella Peterson Juniors 30 Larry Walker Jill Haworth David Lewis Candy Stark Ronnie Proffitt Cheryl Edmonds Paul Winauski Carl Snyder Ray Reitsma Dorothy Fletcher Marvin Arnett Dennis Conner Linda Hires Scott Anders Rhonda Harvey 31 Brenda Bange Brian Castle Larry Young Duane Smitley Lee Smitley Lonny Gardner Robin Ross Tim Miller Don Duez Sophomores Mark Peterson Chuck Stevens Mark Tate Bob Harvey Paul Brierley Theresa Sly Mike Spesard Glenn Simmonson 32 Brenda Davis Tim Busby Bruce Weir Lois Moreland Micky Marriage John Snyder Cheryl Sly Wayne Cook Debbie Leeman David Huff Cindy Kinney Tim Steeples Debbie Stark Nancy Fletcher Jay Hollingsworth 33 Dean Young Lauri Wasson Tim Rogers Becky Todd Randy Wilson Betty Brown Allen Majors Jessie Ross Terry Lierman Gwen Duez Bill Downs Cindy Boyer Tim Pratt Ladell Walker Don Pearson Connie Ellis Paul Romoser Dorella Miller Gary Ellis Brenda Wilson Ron Rowe Julia Smitley Steve Blakeney Chuck Lee man Mary Morton Mark Garrison Jane Spesard Terry Hollingsworth Cindy Vice Mike Snyder 34 Charlene Hires Tony Harvey Jim Henson Alice Foreman Jeff Kincaid Mike Wills Diane Anders Dianna Gordon Marty Sims Deanna Durand James Brierley John Hester Steve Binkley Kenny Collom Jeff Ehlenfeld Ray Guthrie Tim Smiley Evelyn Knifley Don Troxel Mike Conklin Don Haney 35 Freshman Day in the life of a freshmen. Best dressed Talented musicians Initiation 1974 was held in the gym due to the rain that fell all week. The freshmen class exhibited many fine and worthy talents, and honored the Seniors by singing songs, doing cheers, and other small tasks of kindness. Their faces became different shades of red and pink on dress-up day when the Seniors were turned loose with their lipstick. Some parents, friends, and the entire student body enjoyed the antics of our favorite greenies. 36 Model freshmen Take a bow, freshmen. The lights were sparkly , the music neat , and the whole atmosphere was HEAVENLY. 39 Despite the rain which stayed all week, this Homecoming was full of fun and excite- ment. The freshmen spent the week bowing to Seniors, carrying their books, opening doors, scraping plates, and wearing cos- tumes designed by Manufacturers of the Senior Class and they spent the last day in an assembly showing off their unusual tal- ents. There was a model freshman; sev- eral musicians; barrel scrubbers; marble pushers; and last, but not least, two very talented girls who measured a basket ball court by using two hot dogs laid end for end. On Thursday night here was a bonfire with Pete Snyder crowned as Bulldog Puppy. Our Homecoming game was not a complete vic- tory, but it wasn’t a loss. We tied the Bis- mark Blue Devils 14-14. The Starting Five had a bake sale to raise money for the certificates and pins presented to the new members. They attended three Red Mask Produc- tions at the Katheryn Ran- dolph Theater. This year Distributive Education, better known as D. E. was a new course offered to selected seniors. In this course, the kids had a regular class time in the morning, sharing experiences and learning new ideas, and then at 1:00 they left the school and went to their various work stations. It was a successful course, and hopefully will be offered to more seniors in the coming year. 55 56 GREG COLLOM KENT HENDERSON TRACY GARWOOD STEVE BAIRD DON HACKLER GARY ROMOSER DAVID ELLIS TERRY LEWIS 59 PAUL WINAUSKI Back Row: Coach Long, T. At the end of the first semester Vicki and Pam graduated and Micki Marriage took over as mascot. HELLO! The J. Our final record was 16-8, and to top it off, we won the Vermilion County Conference Title too. The varsity consisted mostly of seniors, and they will be sorely missed next year. This year the JV team had a record of 9-9. There is a lot of fine talent here which will bolster the varsity in the future. Also this is the first time the Freshmen have had a regular schedule. We anticipate more game for next year. There were two Freshmen teams; the most our school has had in a long while. This year they were just starting. The gym was transformed into a Shakespearean Garden and PLUSH filled it with music. A hog roast was the thing for post prom. It was held at Ward Park in Ridge Farm and was a finishing highlight for the evening. 72 J. Braekney-Advisor, R. Todd-Editor, D. Davis-Bus. Manager, B. Bledsoe, J. Wills-Secretary, M. Hamilton, B. Davis. Somebodys got to do it so it might as well be us! That's the way our staff went this year. It started out with about 15, but when the work began, there were four who stuck with it and a couple of others who hung around. But all in all, it worked out just as well. The Vidio Tape room was Christened as The Year- book Room and that didn't leave much for anything else. A very small room for a very small staff! To raise a little money, candy was sold at noon and at the Donkey Basketball game. Ads were sold, letters were written, and prayers were given. In the end it all came out, finished, sealed, and delivered. And there we have it—NEVERMORE '74! And as you travel the paths you have chosen, I feel that experience will teach you that life is not a book with old age as a last chapter, but rather a series of short stories, each with its own unfolding. Through each new adventure on the way I know that you will learn that true happiness comes to those who give fully of themselves to what they believe in and to their fellowman. We live in a time that offers unparalleled opportunities for each individual and for our nation. And I am con- fident that you will take hold of these opportunities to achieve greater good for yourselves and for our country. Where there is life, there is hope; and in you — the graduates of our high schools — there is the fullness of life. Your fellow citizens place the fullness of their hope in you. And on their behalf I wish you every success for the future. MEMORIES Memories floating through the pages of my mind. Memories seeing painted pictures of past times. Of tears well shed for good and bad, and sunny times and some so sad. Laughing days of young at heart, not really knowing where to start. Waiting for tomorrows sun and seeing stars fade into one. Memories of days we thought somehow would never end. Memories as we look back to find our childhood friends. Of why we never stopped to say, Thank you for your help today. Thank you for your being there Always waiting near somewhere To keep our heads and hearts up high. And always understanding why. Memories as we look back on thanks that should be said. Memories for days gone by, passing into those ahead. Rinda Todd Editor of Nevermore '74 A utographs 89 A utographs A utographs 91 A utographs W
