OUR TWELVE YEARS The great day QSeptember 9, 19401 had arrivedg there were 21 shining students under the care of Miss Stockert. During the first year we learned when to talk and how to talk, which was pretty hard for some of us Qand still isjg thus, we found out where most of the corners were as well as how to stay in at recess. Second grade showed us that we were really on our way. By this time we had decided whether we liked or disliked school. Opinions differed. We were taught by Mrs. Virginia Smith and Miss Ruth Slattery. Third grade we were taught by Miss Slattery. The first of October, James Stemen moved to Toledo and about Christmas time Jeannette Chambers, went to Yan Wert. Doris Hines joined us during the last semester. For our fourth grade we moved on down the hall where Mrs. Edna Hyman was teaching. Carole Sue Dustman had left us during the summer and Carolyn Brennenaman had joined us. Fifth grade we added Dick Goodwin and Arelene Perry to our class. We again had two teachers Mrs. Hyman and Mrs. Olwyn Allen. Gene Wollen- haupt moved to Pleasant before the term was over. In the sixth grade Mrs. Hyman taught us by herself. During the vacation we lost Colleen Youtsey and Harriet Linton. We were glad when this year was over because next fall we'd be upstairs. Now, we were upstairs where we met our first man teacher, Mr. Roy Hebb. We had lost Carolyn Brennenaman but were joined by Rose Elaine Shook. We felt quite superior to those grade school youngsters. We had the same teacher in the eighth grade, too. The eighth grade was another step forward, our last year before we'd be in high school. Donald Brown moved to Cleveland during the Christmas vacation. Our Freshman year made us feel proud. We had to take our Initiation like all freshman. We managed to struggle through Algebra in time to sell popcorn at basketball games. Dick Putman was back after attending school in Fort Wayne during the eighth grade. La Donna Long joined us from Hoag- lin-Jackson and Suzzone Conley went to Van Wert. During our Sophomore year Richard Evans began to really get his pep up and kept things alive in dull classes. Remember the egg in English class Richard! l ! I bet Miss Bowyer does. We sold candy at the basketball games. Now were we proud! The second day of school we got our class rings. We also had other things ahead! Our claas play The Whole Truth , given November ZZ, 1950 went over with a bang, thanks to our wonderful director, Miss Betty Evans. We held a prom for the Seniors May 11, in the school auditorium. This was our last year of school life. We had lost Rose Elaine Shook during the summer. We still had 17 Brilliant Scholars ----- Our class play, graduation exercises, and class trip brought our grand and glorious twelve years to a happy ending.
