Singing for the joy of it is fast becoming the motto of more and more students at Ridge. This year the Girls' Sextette continued its activities through the summer months. In August they presented broadcasts from Music Hall and the Little Theatre at the Ohio State Fair. The first production of the Girls' Glee Club for the year was aChora1 Concert in November in the theme of Thanksgiving with songs of thanks and praise, Featured on this program was the newly organized Junior High Girls' Ensemble. For the Christmas program the grades presented the operetta, When Toys Come to Life. This was preceded by a Candlelight Concert by the Junior High Chorus. Selections by the Glee Club concluded the program high lighted by the 'Hallelujah Chorus, Dotty Lou Stewart and Joan Johnson had the honor of being selected to sing in the All- State Chorus which presented a concert of the lnternationalFolk Festival. Dr. Charles Hirt, of the University of Southern California conducted. In the words of the students: lt was in- deed a thrill and inspiration to be a part of sucha group--a wonderful experience which We shall never forget. High School music students participated in the County Music Festival held at Ohio City M rch 24. The most enjoyable number proved to be Dry Bones for which we provided the sound effects and accompanist. We were represented at the District Solo arid Ensemble Auditions at Bowling Green April 1 by Bonnie Lu Logan, Piano Solo, Dotty Lou Stewart, Soprano Solog Joan Johnson, Contralto Solog and the Sextette singing I-Io! Mr. Piper, The grade students held their Spring Music Festivalin May. The lasthalf of the program featured a Minstrel Show prepared and produced by the Junior High Chorus. Colorful formals against a background of garden flowers made the setting for the high school Spring Concert also held in May. The Glee Club also provided the music for the Baccalaureate program--and so the end of another musical year, Special recognition should go to Bonnie Lu Logan for her splendid workas accompanist or our Music groups, Z8

Grandpa enjoyed poor health and the thrill of ordering people about especially at his medicine tirne, He worried over how to es- cape the persistant efforts of the Widow Williams to catch her fourth husband-the others being peacefully rested under the sod. Living with Grandpa was Clara and her hen- pecl-fed husband couldn't even call his own tongue and words his own, she wanted to let- Edgar act as Grandpa's guardian in charge of his money, of course. Then, there was Louise, his grand niece, who wanted his money, too, and her prospective bridegroom, Henry Collins, who wanted Louise only if she had the definite prospects of being an 30 . . Frank Bartal Miss Maryetta Bowyer heiress, There was Betty, his granddaughter, who didn't want any thing from Grandpa, but she did want Do,ctor Wyatt to stop consider- ing her a child and to pay some attention to her for herself alone. There was the cook, Maggie, who wanted ahusband and was will- ing to pay a mail-order Matrimonial Bureau ten dollars for a suitable prospect. Grandpa decided to play his own twin sister so that Widow Williams could not trap him. Grandpa finds Wido Williams a husband, who is Adam McPherson, Maggie's Mail- order husband. Maggie stays on as a cook,and Grandpa was going to the Abner Hatcher Hospital as soon as it was built to have peace.
