BOYS' BASKETBALL FIRST ROW: Austin Uncapher, Bill Eaken, Charles Knittle Captain, Richard Prior, Paul Hoverman, Gene Thurston,Man- ager. SECOND ROW: Mr. Leonard, Harold Holland, Carl Smith, Da- vid Miller, Byron McCoy, Willis Palmer, Mr. Moser. The boys' basketball team started the season at a good pace by submerging Hoaglin-Jackson by a large margin The remainder of the season was not as good as expected but the showing in the tournament was quite satisfactory to Ridge fans. Although we won only a few games,we do not consider our work fruitless. The entertainment of the game, the physical benefits, the associations between coach and teammates,and the new acquaintances made certainly proved a greater gain than could any high scoring. These remain forever, influencing our lives and becoming a part of us. Victory alone, however great or small, does not have the same effect, and may be detrimental to those concerned. Opportunities of this nature were not present in the lives of the pioneers and we should be thankful that we have the privilege of participating in such a worthwhile sport as basketball. Those ranking high in points made during the games are Willis Palmer,lOl3 Billie Eaken,955 Charles Knittle, B83 Carl Smith, 643 and Byron McCoy, 55.
