SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADES SEVENTH GRADE: Each student entered his seventh year glowing with pride and thoroughly absorbing with dignity at the privilege of being a junior high student. In the midst of grins of shyness someone, in fact many, got on the wrong side of the seats in the assembly and did many other performances that caused the upperclass- men to focus their eyes on each wrong-doing. However, by Christmas time all that self-consciousness had disap- peared and an entirely opposite situation appeared. There are now twenty-five members in the seventh grade. During the year three classmates moved to a new school district and six new students enrolled. We seventh graders became true pioneers. Friday, May 15, we took our lunches and went on a hike. Never before had any class ventured into this. We ate our lunch in a nearby woods. We had everything from snails to pigeon tongue, so Mr. Hablitzel says. On May 17 David Poe brought UMoseu a piece of births day cake as a bribe. He seemed worried. He once stated that he wasn't coming to school on his birthday because he was afraid Mr. Moser would give him a beating. EIGHTH GRADE: The Eighth Graders have finished one phase of their school work and must now choose the high school work best suited to their needs. The class is composed of sixteen, neither decreasing or increasing in number throughout the year. Three eighth grade students ranked high in the eigum grade test. They are William Wilcox, fifthg Wilson Du- prey, thirteenthg and Martha Eaken, sixteenth. William Wilcox receives a certificate of award from the state the other two from the county. Our class median was above the county and state median. The Seventh and Eighth Grades, jointly organized, elected the following officers, President,Wilson Dupreg Vice-president, Virginia Engle, Secretary-Treasurer,Frmr ces Haines, and Reporter, David Poe. We held two parties during the yearg one was a Hal- lowe'en party and the other was a skating party on.April8. We are very proud of the boys who participated in the junior high tournament. Just wait until they get in high school. Although they did not win the tournament they showed excellent determination and sportsmanship.AL ready some of the eighth grade boys are looking forward to next year when they can at least nkeep the bench wmm+ David Poe, Jack Weigle, Ernest Snyder, Joe Boyd, Ronald Gallaway displayed unusual athletic ability. The seventh and eighth grade bunch is known by all the teachers as the noisiest gang in school. One teacher seems to delight in giving them the raspberries, so he calls it. He says that he gives them the raspberries to day and tomorrow they are back for more.
