FRESHMAN CLASS The Freshman Class is composeiof seventeen students including nine boys and eight girls. On entering high school each member chose the course that would best lead him to his goal. We are certainly glad we are living in these times rather than onelmndred fifty years ago for at that time we would not have been able to choose a life's work so easily nor would we have had such a diversification of subject matter. So many fields of work are open to us today.ln the future you nwy see the freshmen as stenographers,Nancy Sheckler,BettyWHl lespie, Dorotha Tribolet, Phyllis Myersg farmers, James Thurston, Dale Snyder, Robert Cryer, nurses, Marietta Hoverman, Helen Shivley, Doris Fisher, beauty culturist, Joan Dixon, engineers, Dick Prior, Gordon Rogers, Arno Walter, David Miller, radio mechanic, Rudel Good, big league baseball player, Paul Hoverman. At the end of the baseball season records show that two of our boys won letters, namely, David Miller and Paul Hoverman. This is something of which the boys can be proud. Very seldom do the freshmen participate in ath- letics enough to win letters. Gordon Rogers, Rudel Good, Richard Prior, Robert Cryer were also out for baseball but had too much competition. We are also proud of the basketball playing shown.by the freshmen. Although David Miller was the only one re- ceiving a letter in basketball, Robert Cryer, Paul Hover- man, and Richard Prior gave promises of a successful fu- ture. Also, two girls, Helen Shivley and Betty Gillespkn deserve mention as they faithfully did their best to lead their team to stardom. Gordon Rogers was on the beef judging team and Rich- ard Prior, Betty Gillespie, and Dorotha Tribolet ranked exceptionally well in scholarship. After a one-sided initiation party which resultedin the boys escaping and the girls going through with the pn- ishment, we settled down to a year full of work and happi ness. Our social activities were few in number. We had a skating party on March 25, and on April 28 we were guests of the sophomores at a most enjoyable party. Among our class members we not only find quantities of knowledge but also humor and wit. Phyllis Myers is known for innocent remarks in class that cause a chuckle here and there. Bob Cryer and Arno Walter will be remem- bered as the educated ?? cracker-jacks. The class officers for the year were Paul Hoverman, President, Gordon Rogers, Vice-presidentg Marietta Hover man, Secretary-Treasurerg Dorotha Tribolet, Reporterg with Miss Ullom as adviser.
