CLASS WILL Everyone has at least one outstanding quality. This quality dominates that person and makes him more impres- sive,--making the memory of him just a little clearer, just a little deeper, and just a little fender. Perhaps that impression has been so great that it changed the life of an associate from a dull uninteresting one to a full worthwhile life. One is greatly impressed by predecessors as well as associates. One hundred and fifty years ago there came to this Northwest Territory people who had such outstanding qualities that the memory of their characteristics influ- ences us today. First, they were rugged, fearless indi- viduals ready for any undertaking. These pioneers were determined, and with their ingenius foresight undertook the colonization of the land west of the Alleghany Moun- tains, then dense woods, an undertaking calling for cour- age, strength, and endurance. The pioneers have always been examples to us,--ex- amples of courage, determination, foresight, endurance, strength, and fearlessness. Today we are still pioneering,--people are attemp- ting new things, undertakings requiring just as many qualities as was required of the pioneers. of l958 is not without these qualities. The Class It, too, has had achievements, twelve years of achieving a better mind It wishes and a stronger body. to leave some of these qualities to those remaining behind hoping that its benefactors may be urged to greater heights by having had this little en- couragement. VIRGINIA TAYLOR wills her dramatic ability to Jean- nette Stemen so she can overcome stage fri ducting a chapel program, as she will not the senior class play is over. HELEN GORMAN wills her love for red Smith so he can find a place for Geneva heart, as Helen feels that perhaps red hair will not look so good in her kitchen color scheme of lavender and yellww. MILFORD HOLLAND wills his shyness around girls to Byron McCoy who needs a little encouragement in the next two years, or he may become the well-known Hwall floweru at the oncoming social activities. The foresight of PAULINE HAINES is loft to Austin Uncapher who seemingly cannot visualize a situation uu- til it has been placed before hi . EDITH WALSER wills her gift of gab to Lois Jean Da- vies who with this adfiton to her many outstanding qual- ities will certainly be a great success in anything she undertakes. ht while con- need it since hair to Carl Etgen in his

Page 40 text:

DORIS HAINES wills her over-grown height to David Miller so that in the next three years of basketball he can pick the basketball off the backboard without any trouble. HELEN SEALSCOTT wills her natural wavy hair to Gay- nord Snyder in the hope that the next time he appears in a great dramatic role he will be able to nsteal the shown in a more romantic manner. KATHERYN PRIOR wills hor Martha Raye wiggle to Hel- en Walser so she can walk without this thought running through our minds, Does she have a board in her back? RUTH FALLER wills her bit of humor along with her size to Dorotha Tribolet, who at such an early age seems to be taking life too seriously when she should be gay and jolly. EVELYN ENGLE leaves some of her determination to succeed to Hudel Good who seems to need a little encour- agement to lead him on. CHARLES KNITTLE wills his scholastic standing to Helen Drake with the condition that first she must find it for him so that he will have an idea of what he is so generously bequeathing. ' LOIS UNCAPHER gladly wills a chair, rent free, in Balyeat's Restaurant to Lois Gillespie so she can at- tract the eye of a waiter, as she seems to have a hungry feeling when she approaches Balyeat's. Can it be the food? ANN FLAHERTY wills any junior girl the honor of be- ing peony queen gandidate so that she may enjpygit asnmd as Ann did. The Senior Class wills the Juniors its poise and dignity so that when commencement exercises come around next year the Juniors will look as if they are prepared to graduate. The Senior Class wills the Sophomores its silencer so in the two year, tp come they will not all talk at once in class and also will receive the benefit of tht recitations. , The Senior Class wills the Freshmen its progressive ness and its ability to make a success of the love afs fairs that were started a few years ago. It looks as though they need it the way they are starting out. The Senior Class wills the Eighth Grade the power to look on the serious side of life as well as the brigm. The Senior Class wills the Seventh Grade its good study habits which during the year it has tried to make as good examples to them. Sealed and signed on this tenth day of May nineteen hundred thirty-eight, A. D. U . , THE CLASS OF 1958
