Virginia Taylor turns her eyes Away from her machine To billowing grass, and oft she sighs I love the billowy green. Evelyn Engle types some tales Of travel on the way, But in her yarns she never fails To mention some hero gay. Kate Prior has no horse to ride But doesn't care a nickel, For most of the time she is astride Her brother's shiny bicycle. Ann Flaherty aspires quite high And walks with royal mien, 'Tis plain she plans that bye and bye To be somebody's queen. Sweet Helen Gorman gives her life For other people's sake, She'll be a nurse,--perhaps a wife And give some man a break. Dear Doris Haines holds up her head Her life is not a riddle, We know she meant just what she said About playing second fiddle. And Helen Sealscott's timid ways Have changed a lot, indeed! As her ten children she must raise Bossed by a great big Swede. Poor Edith Walser dotes on cats Her life is stern and staid, She's one of earth's aristocrats And also an old maid. And Milford Holland guards the rear Of our long wagon train, But won't let any girl come near He is one bashful Swain. So slowly winding on and on Our caravan proceeds, Our high school days forever gone But hope forever leads.
