THE MGDERN COVERED-WAGON TRAIL The Ridge High Class of '58 Is planning a migration That starts the day they graduate Toward a distant destination. Like old and honored pioneers They go to lands unknown, And bravely crush their inward fears With courage staunch as stone. We see them on an early morn' Start out upon their course, But And For New New New And Is ox carts would be laughed to scorn they start without a horse. sooth, a new age has begun ways,--new joys,--new fears, work and worries and new fun kinds of pioneers. just as like this wagon train pulled by gasoline, We see the trailers dot the plain Each hitched to a machine. A tall young man with grinning face Now leads this caravan, Charles Knittle who has set the pace And feels he is a man. Next comes the car of Dr. Haines Equipped with gadgets new, To mitigate all aches and pains And And see us safely through. Lois Uncapher assists With poise and dignity, For May any man who breaks a wrist be her destiny. Ruth Faller brings her beauty shop To make a lot of dough, And And plies her trade at every stop sometimes as they go.
