Rider College Tavored The adopfion oT boTh The Treshman rule and The Transfer rule. The oTher colleges opposed The move because mosT of Them are Too small To operaTe wiThouT Treshmen. WalTer R. Taylor, direcior of puloliciTy and professor of journalism and English in Rider College, was elecTed presidenT of The organizaTion Tor The I949-50 season. Also elecTed To oTTice were Henry E. Schmidt oT MonTclair Teachers, vice presidenT: and PeTer P. STapay, of Panzer, secreTary- Treasurer. Mr. Taylor acTed as publiciTy direcTor Tor The organizaTion. This was lhe second slraighl year lhe Phi Sigma Nu Fralernily reached lhe linals, lasl year losing lo Ann's Luncheonelle. The Green and Gold lhis year, however, wenl undelealed as lhey ran over lheir opponenls lo nel lwelve slraighl viclories. In lhe championship courl conlesl, Della Sigma Pi, who finished lhird in Sabre League compelilion, came all lhe way lhrough lhe playolls lo earn a shol al Phi Sigma Nu. The Phi Sigs were hard pressed bul, wilh an experienced leam, overcame a lhird period delicil and wenl on lo add anolher lrophy lo lheir already large colleclion. For lhe second slraighl year Phi Sigma Nu Fralernily won lhe inlra-mural loolball crown, aller delealing lhe highly-louled independenl Bearcal c-lub lor lhe league championship. As lhe campaign ground inlo high gear, lhe Phi Sigs were knocked oul ol lhe undelealed ranks by lhe slrong Champlainians, bul copped lhe Skull League crown aller lhe Champlainians were de- lealed by Sigma Lambda Pi and lied by an under- raled Pi Della Phi squad. The lralernily boys ran roughshod over Sigma Lambda Pi, Pi Della Phi, Conrad Hall and lhe Gal-loping Gaels. In lhe championship lill againsl lhe Bearcals, lhe Green and Gold came inlo lheir own, unveiling a hard-charging line and a surprisingly lasl backlield which slarled slow bul whillled down lhe aggressive Bearcal club, bealing lhem I3-7.
