TO THE OUTSTANDING. This graceful, long sTriding lad from Pough- keepsie, N. Y., was perhaps The hardesT TighTing baskeTball player Rider College ever-had, and all his courT play, boTh offensively and defensively, re- vealed a sTyle and polished skill ThaT could only be described as disTincTive. During The pasT season John shrugged off a severe ankle injury philosophically and, wiTh no fuss of any kind, quieTly wenT on The floor and played ball under condiTions ThaT would have forced mosT lesser men noT only ouT of The lineup buT even inTo bed. l-le didn'T quiTe compile The necessary poinTs during his four years as a varsiTy man To puT him in The l,OOO caTegory, buT by his endless efforT and his fine aTTiTude as a sTudenT and an aThleTe, he has made himself one oT The mosT popular men in Rider. John CoTTrill is, aT The same Time, The finesT example of The modern college sTudenT. The Presi- denT of The senior class who has aTTained a high academic raTing ThroughouT his college years is- quick Thinking, alerT, well-spoken, inTelligenT, moder- aTe in his habiTs and keenly aware of his posiTion as an ouTsTanding Rider aThleTe. RoberT Dawson, in his firsl year aT Rider has developed inTo a fine floor general, superb re- bounder, and an excellenT scorer. l-Te was parTicu- larly deadly lasT season on sa-T and lay-up shoTs. T-le is a very fasT, shiTTy player, a good ball handler and a nifTy passer.
