Surely these goals are as true today as when written. The success which you shall have in life will be partially determined by what we offered, how we helped, what you did, and how well you choose to apply yourself in the future. The home, school, and church all play a vital part in fulfilling Van Dyke's poem. As your superintendent, I am most interested in how well the school does its part in providing good facilities and materials, good teachers, and a good social environment in which to work and learn; but even more, I am interested in you, as an individual. Our school policy states, Democracy as a way of life recognizes human welfare, human worth, and human happiness. The qualities which bring these about are learned, not inherited. Thus education is one agency whose specific purpose is the direction and development of a child to his greatest capacity - that he may become a contributing member in a democratic society. This is my hope and desire for each one of you 11 Sincerely yours, Kenneth A. Stuart Superintendent of Schools 4 Principal's Message: Each year the members of the annual staff publish the Shamrock. It is their sincere desire that this publication will serve as a constant reminder, now and in the years to corne, of the friendships formed, student body activities, and the happy years in Riddle High. I feel that our annual staff under the able direction of Mr. R.L. Marple has provided a yearbook that fulfills the wishes of the annual staff. Upon behalf of the student body and faculty, I wish to express our thanks and appreciation to the annual staff and their director for their efforts in creating the fine 1957 Shamrock. Donald E.
