JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY President..................Gene Buckley Vice-President.............Ardeth Aikins Secretary................Priscilla Pruner Class Advisor .... Mr. Donald Brown Colors.....................Pink and White Flower..........................Carnation Motto. . .Experience is the best teacher. In 1946, twenty-two green Freshmen started their struggle toward the top. After three days of initation by the upper classmen we were a part of the high school student body. Some of our boys and girls took part in activities such as volleyball, basketball, and softball. At the start of our Sophomore year we had fourteen classmates. All of the new pupils who were here have moved away. Those who participated in athletics were Ardeth Aikins, Evelyn Bates, Doris Gilbreath, Wyatt Hendricks, and Ken Haverly. At the close of the year we were looking forward to being considered as upper classmen. Here we are in our Junior year. We are now upper classmen and take our positions more seriously. The new pupils who joined us in our Junior year are: Daris Reynolds, coming from Texas; Rosie Arena, from California; Gene Buckley, from Oakland; and Harry Bushnell, from Days Creek. Again we are proud of our athletic achievement. Doris Gilbreath, Ardeth Aikins, and Velma Harper were on the volleyball team. Wyatt Hendrick and Ken Haverly were on the first string basketball team, while Don Zifka, Kenny Gallagher, and Gene Buckley were subs. Wyatt Hendrick, Ken Haverly, and Gene Buckley were on the football first team while Kep Gallagher and Don Zifka were substitutes. Here Come Charlie was the play given by our class this year. Ten of the students participated in the play, and it was a success. This year’s candidate for carnival queen was Priscilla Pruner, and her escort was Don Zifka. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held on the evening of May 6, at the Guild Hall. A very delicious banquet was served by some of the ladies of the Eastern Star. After that, dancing was the main entertainment of the evening. The evening proved to be one of the highlights of the year. We are now looking forward to becoming the high and mighty.Seniors of 50. 12

The Freshman class is well represented this year with twenty-two members. We are very proud of our class members who participated in both basketball and volleyball. Our first year in high school proved to be very enjoyable, and we are looking forward with great eagerness to our Sophomore year. SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY President.........................................Bob Strode Vice-President......................jVilliam Vaughn Secretary.....................Doris Hollingsworth Advisor. .............................. Mr. Wilson Class Colors........................Blue and White Class Flower.................................Gladiola Class Motto.........Win or lose-We never give up. In the fall of 1947, in the month of September, thirteen green Freshmen entered the ground of the Riddle High School. This year we lost two freshies in the first semester and gained one in the second semester. We survived the razzing of the upper classmen and the initiation by the Sophomores. At the end of our first term there remained with us the remembrance of past days and with great encouragement to become Seniors. In the year of '48 we entered the Riddle High School as a group of thirteen, with the following, new in our ranks: Doris Hollingsworth from Jacksonville, Oregon, Betty Wagoner from Indiana, Isa Macdonald from Scotland, Jean Renhard from Colton, Oregon, Thomas Scott from Oklahoma, and Neal Lamphear from Aberdeen, Washington. In the first semester of the same year we lost Thomas Scott who went back to Oklahoma. We have been active in all of the activities of the high school this year. We will try our best to do better next year as Juniors. 14
