It is quite impossible to list separately all people who helped because over 9496 of om' citizens who voted approved the mager and over 8996 of our vot- ing citizens approved the building program. We can list several and can express appreciation and thanks to them and to all others who helped. Everyone interested in our schools can and should be proud of our people who well know local control requires local support in time, money, and effort. The sixteen members of the former school boards of the foln' Buena Vista districts called in for advice, information, and help many area citizens. When the various committees had reached conclusions on various ways to solve our school problems a joint citizens committee headed by Mr. William Shillaire called together all citizens of our present district to a large public meeting. At this meeting the com- mittees reported on their findings and their recom- mendations. Every citizen present was offered ample opportunity for questions and comments. PICKER GEAR 18 In truly American fashion the group discussed the problems and possible solutions at some length. At last reaching a decision the citizens attending this meeting concluded to 'proceed with plans to estab- lish and maintain an independent school system adequate to offer our children the best education possible from kindergarten through senior high.' This April resolution was followed by july's 9496 vote on combining and November's 8996 vote on building new schools. The members of the former school districts-Mrs. Helen Pockel and Messers Burr, Fletcher, Gail, Gulliver, Hallman, Iamurri, Lentner, Lier, Losee, Meinecke, Molitor, Morford, Morrow, Rhode, Robins, along with the PTA presidents and members of the former districts receive our special thanks. Where possible we have tried to include pictures of these people in the pages of the Arrow so all may forever keep a copy and know-'their deeds live long after them .' It has been a privilege and a real pleasure to work with all these fine citizens who learned what they wanted to do and then proceeded to do that which they wanted. joseph G. Barr, Supt.
