Floating Funnies Make Appearances The young men of Dogpulch listen attentively while Pappy Yokum (Tom Oyan) explains Sadie Hawkins' Day. Veronica (Mary Pula) greets Moose (Shannon Wood) and Madge (Lynn Louric) in the Archie skit. Dagwood floating in his tub atop the water of the RHS pool, Charlie Brown trying desperately to keep his team together by offering them uniforms, a water ballet by six of the girl Guards, a reunion of all the Archie gang years after they have gone their separate ways, a Sadie Hawkins’ Day Race led by Pappy and Mammy Yokum, and the final spell- ing-out of RHS =1.” This was some of the action at the seventh annual Richwoods Guard Show. The program’s title this year was Those Fantastic Float- ing Funnies, featuring skits taken from the comic strips with a few variations. The RHS Guard worked hard to make the performance a good one. The show featured popular music in the skits, posters depicting the name of each skit and various colored lights shown upon the water. Mr. Clopper, swin coach, was also featured in the antics. 28 Member?, of RHS Guard run from the girls wishing to make them their husbands in the Sadie Hawkins' Day Race.

Queen Aggravain insists that Prince Dauntless listen to her while she ex- plains how hard it is to be a member of royalty. ci Mattress Continuing in the excellent tradition of musical comedies presented at RHS was this year’s fall play, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, directed by Mrs. Sara Drew. Prince Dauntless the Drab (Rick Edwards) is the nucleus of the plot. He wants to get married, but his mother, Queen Aggravain (Dot O’Brien) is not in accord. Although a law in the kingdom docs not permit any couple to get married before Dauntless, one couple of the court. Lady Larkcn (Nancy Nelson) and Sir Harry (Keith Nonncmacher) must soon be married! Sir Harry sets out to find a bride for the Prince and returns with Winnifred the Woebegone (Bonnie Upchurch). She is subjected to a test of sensitivity dreamed up by the Queen and the Wizard (Doug Biederbeck). Because Winnifred passes the exam, she proves herself to be a real princess and the curse on the king is broken. The happy and relieved couples are now able to get married, while King Scxtimus the Silent continues to rule the land with his fellow girl chasers and comrades, the Jester (Jon Noetzel) and the Minstrel (Cliff Garstang). The mysteries of the birds and the bees arc solved for Prince Dauntless by his father, the voiceless King Scxtimus. King Scxtimus is aided by the Jester and the Minstrel in outlining their lives at court.

Laurie Stone and Todd Ellis take time for refreshments during the festive evening. A “Snowball” Promised Christmas Bliss Capturing the Christmas spirit. Bobbi Letz and Bob Harney enjoy the slow pace of this dance. This year’s winter dance, A Snowball,” launched the Richwoods students and faculty into the beginning of a long- awaited and well-deserved Christmas vacation. The Student Council sponsored this evening filled with fun, happiness, and holiday spirit. The gym was artistically decorated with pine trees scat- tered along the sidelines, while in the center of the gym, a huge jolly snowman beamed at the dancing couples. Glitter- ing snow flakes hung suspended from the ceiling, and confetti, strewn along the floor, gave the impression of newly-fallen snow. The “Ace of Spades provided the music which con- sisted of many popular hits, accented with dances and wild gyrations done by the members of the group. The Ace of Spades provided entertainment for those who attended “A Snowball.
