Dr. Fred C. Endres President Mr. Ralph Hoerr Mr. Williom Lowery Mr. Wheeler McDougal District Treasurer BOARD OF EDUCATION Mrs. George Meyer, Jr. Secretary Our Board of Education Pauses From Their Busy Schedule. This is the fourth year of operation of the Richwoods Community High School. During these four years we have seen not only an expansion in the number of students gradu- ated each year but also an expansion in the faculty and facilities. The willingness of the people of this community to provide financial support to pay good teachers and build an adequate school has been gratifying to all concerned. The bond issue money recently voted upon favorably, and all the money previously spent, will be justified only if the product produced — a good secondary education in sound bodies and minds — is achieved. America's future is secure when education does not fail. Dr. Fred C. Endres President of the Board of Education Mr. L. Edward Roby Mr. Arthur Szold Mr. Henry Triebel Mr. Charles Ullrick School Attorney

TO MISS CURRAN: Richwoods Community High School opened its doors to the first student body in September 1957. Many hours of prepa- ration, thought, work, and endeavor were done before the opening day. Any important chapter in the story of Richwoods is a person who spent much time and effort in formulating policies and co-ordinating activities of R.C.H.S. She has con- tinued in this vein for the past 4 years. No task is too great for her,- yet nothing is too menial for her if it is for the gen- eral betterment of Richwoods. As a specialist in college counseling, she has aided many stu- dents in selecting a college suited to them, and has also given much time to the student going into business or industry fol- lowing graduation. Organization of testing programs, job placement, and scholarship planning are only examples of her many activities. Many a student has found a listening ear and an understand- ing smile when he or she has sought her help. This person's educational pursuits are international in scope. Holding of- fices in an international and state educational organizations, along with membership in national organizations are among her educational achievements. No, the story of Richwoods could not be told without a special tribute to this person. We the 1961 EXCALIBUR staff dedicate this volume to you. Miss Helen Curran, Director of Guidance and Dean of Girls. 11
