The beginning of our high school escapade started in the fall of 1949, with Daniel Shank taking us under his protecting wing. We gave our first stage appearance in presenting a short assembly, called The Cat's Whiskers, for the high school. By the time we were Sophomores, we became more accustomed to the many activities and events that take place in the everyday life of the students. Some of our boys were fortunate enough to make the football and basketball teams. Juniors! At last we are Juniors, ordering classrings, and preparing to show our acting ability to the public. The Little Dog Laughed was under the direction of Dean Cochran. The biggest event of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which was held in Columbus, Ohio at the Seneca Hotel. It was tremendously enjoyed by all. At the beginning of the Senior year, we journeyed to Delaware to have our pictures taken at Cubberly's Studio. Later in the year, we presented our play, January Thaw. The latter part of the year was spent in selecting the class motto, colors, and planning the trip. Now, we come to the end of our high school life, half afraid of what lies in the future for us. We know what we are. We are the class of 1953, preparing to take the biggest step of our lives, but we know not what we may be.
