mmf m I I The first leg of our journey home includes a stop in Subic Bay to take on supplies and give our gunners mates the opportunity to demon- strate their skill shooting at a towed water- borne target. The second leg of the journey finds us making a brief stop in Guam for fuel and more supplies. Home seems much nearer now with an overnight stop in Pearl Harbor for fuel and fresh pineapples. Pearl Harbor is a welcome sight to everyone because it is our last port away from home. Now the next port will be San Diego and our loved ones. Captain HAYNES, our prospective command- ing officer, joins us in Hawaii for the final leg of our journey home. The next few dayS are filled with preparations for 12 August and our arrival in San Diego. All hands eagerly await the moment when the last whistle blows, signalling the first line from the RKT has reached the pier and our cruise has ended.
