THE OOMMANDING OFFICER Carson Robert WORLEY was born on March 26, 1922 in York, Pennsylvania to William C. and Nannie L. WORLEY. Captain WORLEY attended William Penn Senior High School, York Junior College, and graduated from Roanoke College, Vir- ginia, with a B.S. Degree before being com- missioned Ensign at the Naval Reserve Midshipman School, Northwestern Univer- sity in May 1944. He accepted a Regular Navy Commission in 1947. After being commissioned he was assigned to the Amphibious Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet where he served in various landing craft which included command of LCI 873. In April 1947, he reported aboard the USS ALDERBRAN as Navigator. In January 1950, he reported aboard USS RICH QDDE-8207 as Gunnery Officer. Subsequent billets with destroyers included: Operations Officer, Commander Squadron FOURTEENStaff g Ex- ecutive Officer, USS BENHAM QDD-79613 and Commanding Officer, USS CHARLES R. WARE QDD-8653. On June 27, 1967, Captain WORLEY took command of Destroyer Di- vision ONE FOUR TWO. Additionally,he has served as Assistant Operations Officer for Scheduling on the Staff, Commander, Sixth Fleet. Captain WORLEY has served ashore as an instructor at the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit at Princeton University and Yale University, as the Capabilities Plans Officer in the Strategic Plans and Policy Division of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operationsg and as head of the Policy Section of the Plans and Policy Di- vision, Staff, Commander-in-Chief, Pacific. He is a graduate of the General Line School, Monterey, California, and the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia. Captain WORLEY is married to the former Miss E.Virginia Bond of York, Pennsylvania. They have three children: Chris , Bonnie, and Cathy.
