Sasebo is an ing teresting blend of the old and the new. There are good res au rants, interesting shops, and a zoo high on a hill in SaS6b0- Nagasaki is a two hour bus ride from Sasebo. Nagasaki does not get exposed to Americans as much as Sa sebo with its large naval base. Americans are treated well here. The Japanese are very curious about their roundf eyed visitor and about his country. Nagasaki is a beauflful city with its old temples, cherry trees, and floral gardens' and peace memorial. The three Navy Exchanges in Sasebo are filled Wlt foreign merchandise bargains which few of us can reS1Sf-1 When we finally leave Sasebo for the Sea of Japan, we W11 be poorer, but have a wealth of goodies to take home.
