P-AC3IF'lC' 04MElMN HAWAII AND THE CROSSING MOLOKAI ...NASD After six days of a kind sea, we come upon majes- tic Diamond Head and wave Aloha to Pearl Har- bor. The sky is very blue and the sun very warm on this Pacific Paradise. For three days we enjoy the sights and sounds on the island of Oahu. Many of the crew rent cars, surfboards, or merely stroll on the clean, wide stretches of the shore. This is to be our last look at the United States until August. Upon leaving Hawaii, the ship heads west toward Japan. In the meantime, we take time out for a seafaring picnic. Fantai1 Follies presents the talents of the RKT followed by a cookout. The weather turns. Mother Sea shows us that she can be harsh and un- pleasant. No longer are the skies blue, but now dark and the sea becomes heavy. The old salts weather it out, but our younger and newer ship- mates see a great deal of the rail.
