1iAf COMMANDER FRANK L KOVARICR THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER lc L Kovarick was born in Stroudsburg Pennsylvania on 19 january 1928. Commander Fran . , He was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in june 1952 and was commissioned an Ensign ' ' 3 N X 6'. in the line, U.S . Navy. He attained the rank of Commander to date from 2 October 19 5 Commander Kovarick served as Assistant Navigator in the USS MISSOURI CBB-635 during the ship's second Korean campaign tour. He entered flight training at Pensacola, Florida in February 1954 and after his designation as a naval aviator he served in Fighter Squadron One Hundred Fourteen in the USS ESSEX CCVA-95. He served in USS CARTER HALL CLSD-35 prior to attending the U.S . Naval Post Graduate School in june 1959. Upon graduation from the Post Graduate School in 1961, Commander Kovarick served as Gunnery Officer in USS FOREST SHERMAN QDD-9315. In April 1962, he joined the nucleus crew of USS LEAHY QDLG-165, building at Bath, Maine, for duty as Weapons Officer when she was placed in commission on ' ' ' nder Cruiser Force, U.S. 4 August 1962. In December 1963 he joined the Staff of the Comma Rh d Island and served as the Force Guided Missile Officer un- Atlantic Fleet in Newport, o e , til September 1965 when he was ordered to report to USS RICHMOND K. TURNER QDLG-205. Commander Kovarick was married in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in September 1957 to the armon, also of Stroudsburg. They have two daughters, jan Louise and Amy I Y af w .
